There are many posts and threads about religion and God and Christianity and Bhuddism and etc, etc. Some of them mention about proof and belief and faith too. Of course, the only proof we need is our personal faith, our personal belief, our personal experience.
I've already mentioned I was raised as a Catholic in the Christian religious tradition (Yes, they ARE the same thing!), but decided that this way was not right for me. I could not believe for various reasons and started looking for what was right for me. After a number of years, I have found what is right for me but it has mostly came through real personal, physical experience. Not through the words of a preacher, minister, priest or what is written in a dusty old tome.
My 'proof' came in the form of Spiritual perhaps, but certainly physical experience. I wqorked for 23 years in the health care industry in the UK and have seen a lot of dead, dying, terminally ill and ailing people. I have sat with many many people as they took their last breaths and exited this world. I have watched, at first with incredulous eyes, as the Spirit left the body. I have felt their limbs grow cold from the feet upwards as their Spirit gathers and moves towards the head, preparing to leave the physical shell behind, as it exits from what is coloquially known as the '3rd eye centre'.
I have felt the presence of those who have returned after a time, to let us who remain behind know that they are safe, they are well and happy and, more importantly that they are ALIVE! In Spirit perhaps, not in ther physical, but nevertheless, alive - much in the same vein as it was reported that JC appeared to his followers after his physical death.
Sometimes, Spirit may appear in human form, which we often call a 'ghost', sometimes, it may only be a smell, and aromatic essence. Sometimes it may only be a feeling, a sense. You happen to 'coincidentally' think of someone who has passed over and by chance (?) your gaze falls on a photo of them, or soemthing else appears at that precise moment to make you think of them.
In the physical, we are the ones who are blind and deaf to those who have passed. They can see us, are aware of us, try to communicate with us, but we, in our ignorance or fear fail to hear and heed their messages. In some cases, we ignore them because religion tells us that it is wrong. It is not!
God made us with the ability to hear, see, feel, sense, touch, taste and know, to a much greater degree than our physical senses alone. We are supposed to know, to be aware of, to use our innate psychic sense as well as our physical ones. Everyone DOES have the psychic ability, it's not true that you need to be born with it. All you have to do is remember that you have it and believe you can re-learn how to use it again.
When you do, THEN you will have all the proof you need!!
Namaste all.

Oh you. . . . you have a way of thoughts into words so eloquently. Lovely post as you consistanly do. Wise old soul you are.
I, too, have spent time working in the medical profession. Much of my time was spent caring for hospice patients. I, too, have sat and held many hands as the beautiful people I had come to know took their last breath in their vessel. Death is such a spiritual experience and I can honestly say that my hospice experience is what sparked my spirituality.
Blessings Old Soul to you,
Kim

Thank you Roe. I know I am very lucky and don't deserve her but she's my gift from God.
And yes, I have seen very many
"ghosts' in my life. I'm as unafraid of them as they are of me, so its all good. :)

Thank you too Kim but, as they say,
"it takes one to know one". Maybe us 'old souls' just know each other?
(Or, by 'old soul' were you referring to my previous post!? :P) lol

Thanks J. It would be nice if more people knew it for themselves, experienced it rather than just read what I have to say about it but I guess it's all in the 'masterplan' for them somewhere.

This is most true and very insightful and interesting, thank you hon - hugs
Indeed, our body is just a shell to carry us, it is the spirit within that is the main source of us - when we pass over to the Summerlands, our spirit lives on and never vanishes or diminishes. never.

I cannot wait to get my new set of clothes.
I hope they come in satin.
Black Satin.
Interesting post...I look at death as I said above..like slipping into a new set of clothes.

It is what you believe it to be DS, whether that be like putting on a new set of clothes or simply casting off the dead weight of the physical body.
Regardless, it is freedom, to start anew, to look back and to learn.
I like the black not sure about the satin though...! :)

I was born and raised an Atheist and am just coming to terms with the fact that I now believe in Goddess/God, spirits, psycic abilities, destiny and all of those things I was taught didn't exist because life was something fleeting and co-incidental. I was taught that we are created by our parents, we are born, we live we die. I never realised how much this bothered me, until I got my own proof that there's more to life!
Hm. I can see a blog coming!
Thanks!
