Dear God:
Well the weekend at the youth offender prison was OK, but there were several distractions. Some of the boys wanted to go eat at there cafeteria and then come back and eat again with us; also, others wanted to leave to go play basketball. These distractions take away from the message that we were trying to get across to them and the ones that stayed. We could also see the gang mentality at work! Satin was trying very hard to stop us in what we were doing! The closing ceremony was the time where satin hit us with every thing he had. There were guests at closing and the boys acted out. They were yelling at each other, throwing gang signs, and we almost had a fight break out. However, we did see some good results!! The team will be meeting in about a week to discuss the weekend and how to improve it. We will also discuss the mentoring sessions (which are 1 to 1) that we will start soon (of which I am the coordinator).
Something else Lord, school teaching is becoming a real drag. Try as I might, my students are rude, unmotivated, and almost uncontrollable! I feel as if I am between two bricks that are being slammed together. One brick is my students and the other is the upper administration (many of whom have never taught). I'll be so happy to retire from education before it becomes totally unbearable.
Love
Your Son
