| Jeremiah's Calling |
Everyday there seems to be something that tries to rob my attention. The election hullabalou, bad economy, bills, lack of work, etc and etc. I started reading the Book of Jeremiah the prophet and in reading about his calling from the Lord I realized that I have nothing to fear or fret about but should be using this time to warn others and help them hear the" voice calling them out of darkness and into his wonderfull light". Listen to Jeremiahs Calling from the Lord
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were formed I set you apart,
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."
Jeremiah responds, "Ah Soverereign Lord," I said,"I do not know how to speak, I am only a child.
The Lord responds, " Do not be afraid of them , for I am with you and will rescue you!".
The Lord made it clear ,that because we are called "I am with you..". Sounds familiar doesn't it? Remember what Jesus says before his accension? Mt 28:19 "Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always , to the very end of the ages."
This helps me see how God never changes and that we are reassured that the great "I am" is always there to help and guide us even in this godless world that tries to rob us of our Peace and Joy. The Great Commission calls us to bring the Word of the Lord to an unbelieving public so they can decide for themselves were they want to stand, but it also has a way of strengthen our faith allowing us to be confident in the face of uncertainity.
In Jeremiah's time (roughly 600 BC) it was the impending doom of the Babylonian exile, in today's world it is the return of our Lord Jesus and judgement for us all.
What are you a sheep or a goat?
