| Honorary Degrees? What a joke!!! |
There isn't anything that is more irritating to me than hearing that someone received an "Honorary Degree." People go to school for years, study like crazy with sleepless nights that seem neverending to complete tests, projects, and homework to EARN their degrees.
To me personally, honorary degrees are a joke. It makes absolutely no sense to give a degree to someone who has not earned it. Just because one holds a position such as a president or news anchorperson, etc. does not mean they should get an honorary degree.
An example of what I'm trying to say is this: you would not want someone getting an honorary degree in medicine and then coming into the operating room to operate on you. Why? Because they never studied, trained, or worked for it. They just got the honorary degree for notoriety and so the college/university that gave them that honorary degree can say someone famous or important "went "to their school and "got" a degree.
In my opinion, an honorary degree is a mockery of those who have worked and studied and trained so hard to earn their degree, or in some cases degrees, and get to where they are today.
Just pondering the silliness and foolishness of getting "Noble Peace Prize" and "Honorary Degree" without any effort, work, or training. It's simply mind boggling.
