Yes because you can always get help no matter how hard things seem. You're not putting an end to your pain you're just passing it on to people who love you. But no-one who commits suicide can help how they feel they're not in the right mind.

In suicide you are attempting to kill yourself. For whatever reason you are doing it for, your still taking your own life. If this is not a selfish act then I dont know what is. The whole idea of taking away your life is because you are only concerned with yourself, selfish! Now if your risking your life to save another then this is not suicide but a selfless act.

i dont think suicide is selfish!
it is putting yourself out of the misery you are in!
i have been there! i felt lost and really hurt. i felt like it was my only way out, well thats how i felt anyway! the only reason i didnt go through with it was because i met a graet gy who made all my fears and worries disapear! but he is gone so im suicidal again! my fiends told me i was being selfish and many have not spoken to me since i tryed to talk to them about it! but it does and will put an end to my misery!

Most people who commit suicide seem to be teenagers. Someone is sad because they think nobody understands them or whatever; and they probably do feel that way, but that feeling will pass. Everyone goes through the teenage years, and everyone to a greater or lesser extent deals with feelings of insecurity and all that. Everyone goes through those feelings where they feel they are so unique that no one understands how they feel. And it sucks, it really does. But put up and shut up!! It will pass. You will get over it and you will be a stronger person because of it. Suicide is selfish.

i think this is a complex arguement.obviously, every one will not see eye to eye on this.in reading all of the statements here i disagree with a majority of it and you certainly have the right to do the same with my thoughts.are we not told to live for ourselves? look out for number one,so to speak.i mean, if we spend our lives living for everyone else then is it our lives we are living? i mean, absolutely if someone has the support of a family and in turn has to support a family i am all for "getting help" or doing whatever is necessary to work it out.i think by theory if some people have someone to help them and support them things can sometimes be worked out.but, pain is non-discriminating.it also takes different forms and it can strike anyone.not just teenagers.i think a major factor that contributes to suicide is alienation.sometimes people just have no one they can turn to and they feel alone.even sometimes people are surrounded by loved ones and yet they still feel alone.this one could have been helped.this one might not have been able to be helped.it's all conjecture.it's pissing in a fan.one simply can not say all suicides are selfish.each situation and each person is different.one thing that does anger me is when someone does commit suicide and everybody sits around and trashes the person for being selfish.the same people who ignore someones cries for help when they are alive are now angry at that person they ignored for feeling there was no hope because they were alone.not every person who commits suicide wants help.each persons pain is different.i do believe a lot of times if people did have someone they could turn to or someone to listen to them that they could be saved.once again, obviously not everybody and we are pissing in the fan again.i have kwown quite a few people who killed themselves.the circumstances were all different.but, i don't hate them or trash talk them for what they did.they made a poor judgement call and it resulted in their being excised from the planet.i wasn't in their shoes so i don't think i ,nor anyone else, has any right to pass judgement on them for how they handled things.do i agree with their choice? no.absolutely not.but, each one of these people did what they did and they were not thinking clearly and i have to accept this.when people are clouded by pain or drugs or both, they make irrational decisions.but, i don't think anybody has the right to judge them because they were not in their shoes.2 different people might have the same issues but they choose to handle their pain differently.i guess the main point that i am trying to make here is that i feel it's a trick question.in some situations suicide is selfish.in some ways i don't think it is.i think different options work for different people.i'm sure i'm going to be called an asshole for this.i'm prepared.but, i really believe that each person and each situation is different.nobody wants to have the balls to say this ....but, face it, the world would be a better place without some people.so, if that is the case ....and someone is truly bettering the planet with their demise ....is it a selfish act? surely in this case the people who fall under this ideology rarely kill themselves.i just think that when someone decides to kill themselves they see it as their answer and who is someone else to argue what is the answer for another person? especially when half the time the people who argue were not there for the person in the first place and one is indeed picking an arguement with someone who is no longer here to defend themselves.

sorry, i meant to add that in a manner of speaking the act of declaring one persons suicide as a selfish act as so stated by an outside party is in itself .....a selfish act.
