Ok, like i said in the last post, i was hoping that i'd do a lot of journaling while on the trip, i just couldnt find the time to do so. I will type up what I did manage to get written down and let the memory try to take it from there (i'm not going to change my gramatical errors. just going to type exactly what i have written fyi)
The Bus
5.21.08 @ 6:12pm. Bus #2
We've been on & off the bus since 8:30A. 1st my right contact hurts so bad I had to take it out. and still can only see clearly out of one eye.
There was a metal door on the overhead above us and the older chap behind us fixed it w/ a peice of paper. It was pretty empty for a while & we took 2 seats each. Once it started to fill up, we moved to seats next to each other. Jen stared out the window while I tried to sleep. Wile my eyes were closed she said the 'treasures' she saw were a deer take a drink from a stream and a sign hidden in the trees that said 'Smile' - and she did.
On one of the stops an asian family boarded the bus. They were just weird. And the man kept reaching back & adjusting OUR vents. Finally Jen told him to 'stop that' and he just looked at us weird. We (ok I) told him there is no way to close our vent (plugs were gone) & did not want it blowing on me. And the little old asian lady said but it is blowing right on my face. She said it very rudely. Like we should have known & so were doing it on purpose. We tried to point it in the aisle.
The handyman behind us made a plug out of paper. Genius I tell you.
They were doing good on stops...until the 4+ hrs that they did not let us get off @ any of the stops. Then got us to Chicago late. Got in @ exactly the same time our bus was "supposed to leave" so I was in a panic, needed a cigarette, which is getting difficult to figure out where that's okay :( and J needed to go potty. So we rushed around and this dang bus left 45 min late! So pissed. And Chicago term was weird & their workers are unfriendly.
But we’re outo f there & back on the road. Liked the other bus better. It was MUCH nicer! This one is old/crappy/dirty. But if it takes my to NYC – awesome. Next stop, South Bend, IN. Get 10 min there w00t, be about 1/5 hr I’d guess. I want off this bus.
9:44p
Finally off. The old man yelled @ me again. He said ‘there are no layovers on greyhound. Spoke over AND interrupted me. I could not fathom being even ½ that rude to a customer @ my job – I would be fired. I will write a letter. This is my vacation and I paid good $ for my ticket.
It’s going to be good when we got to NY! Just like 14 more hrs or no, yes. Like 14 and it’s cold outside. This bus trip = not as much fun. I hope I didn’t upset Jen when I cried about that stupid damn old man
Fri May 23 12:01AM
We just got done seeing RENT. Got front row center, bothe our names were called, but I was first and so got to stand in line/actually purchase the tickets. WICKED AWESOME!
Ok, back up. Couldn’t chk in to hostel till 2, but were ready @ noon. But they had luggage storage & we left our stuff/went & walked around Central Park. So cool/beautiful. Chk’d in @ 2. The hostel is nice/staff has been really nice. Met 1 boy from Brazil & 1 from London.
We laid down for a minute, it was SUPPOSED to be a minute, but we fell asleep till like 3:30p. Got up, found out we don’t have a locker.
Went and entered lottery for RENT rush tickets. That’s were we met Greg. Who I called Mr. Boston till we knew his name.
Sat May 24th 2:42A.
When am I supposed to write.
LOL! and then that is the last thing I managed to write...how funny is that. unfortunatly now we have to count on my terribly memory to tell the rest of the stories....l8r
