I'm already right. In my last blog I said if the bruins beat now AP #15 BYU they will crack at least one of the Top 25 polls. Well we dont have to wait for the Spetember 16th polls to have that happen. Today, as the AP top 25 poll was released UCLA moved into #23 in the AP poll. It went (starting at 23) as follows...
23. UCLA receiving 151 points
T24. Illinois receiving 147 ponts
T24. South Carolina recieving 147 points
As for the USA today poll...well they didn't give us the break we needed UCLA finished #26 in that poll. They were only one vote away from getting in to that poll. Illinois got 92 votes where UCLA got 91.
This doesn't matter as much because UCLA's next game is on the 13th. This means they have one week off. So if any team loses in the Top 25 polls (which always happens) they will move up. There isn't much of a chance of Eastern Illinois beating USA Today #25 Illinois so thats not going to happen. Same thing goes for USA Today #24 South Carolina playing Vanderbilt. I think there is a possibility of USA Today #23 losing to UNLV. I could also see USA Today #20 Wake Forest losing to an Ole Miss team, that I think if they played in the ACC like Wake Forest instead of the SEC, they'd be higher regarded.
Overall I can see 5 teams between #15-#25 in the USA Today polls. If I'm only half right UCLA should move into the top 25 in the USA Today poll. Possibly, even into the top 20 into the AP poll. So lets route for some upsets Bruins fans!
