 Maiden
This is my first blog, ever. I'm not really sure what prompted me to begin this, but I do know that for the last few days my mind's been playing battlefield to legions of thoughts and ideas inspired by New York.
I've always wondered: why do people blog? What is this word 'blog'? It really sounds like the sound you might make while hurling! So is that what it is: vommitting your most intimate thoughts and opinions on a web screen, for strangers to read and provide their (expert?) comments on? Sounds a little perverse to me.
And of course, is this just another way to open your life up to,  I don't know, friends from 20 years ago who have no consequence in your life anymore?
But I don't know, I don't work that way. I've got to be different. Maybe blogs can be about sharing and not stalking; how about inspiring appreciation, debate and conversation? Instead of it being a Dear Diary, or a monologue about something that only you find interesting, why can't a blog be a map of the human thought process. Bingo! That's just what mine's going to be about.
Haven't you ever had that feeling when you're walking down the street, or sitting idle in a subway car with your mind on a  full-on narrative of different thoughts and ideas, that seem to float from one topic to another, until you can't even remember what sparked this trail of thought?
My mind's just always buzzing with this voice inside me, talking to me about all the different things happening around me and trying to make sense of it in my terms. Much like Da Vinci, I am fascinated with the fluidity of thought, and maybe, just maybe, I'll be able to wrestle some of  the escaping, thoughts into this thing called 'a blog'.

I enjoyed reading this. It flows and moves like literature should. My blogs are generally about me. It is all I know really. I feel like I know enough about myself to know that I am selfish, and I write about myself because it is all I know. I blog about my petty frustrations and "clueless" drama, because I don't have any pals to chat with about all those trivial things. I just exist in this tiny bubble of an island that I live on. In some ways, having a blog is a way to feel like I can be social. I am not a real talker and I don't have any friends. My b/f and I are not even really friends, so much as partners. We get into the pattern of things.... I guess a blog helps me to feel connected. Sort of a pathetic attempt at being "part of things". In any case, when I read this, I smiled, and understood, and it was a good feeling. So kudos to you for such a simply neat blog.

thanks shaelee :) sometimes having everything layed out in front of you helps to make better and wiser decisions! despite the negative comments that i did make about blogs, i do agree that they too can be great to not only bring people together, but also to keep yourself up to speed on your thoughts and emotions !
