 whats for dinner?
Its dinner time and I'm hungry
and I'm sure the rest of the clan is too
but
they always hate whatever I make
thats
another story

instead of cooking dinner
I was taking a little break

reading old forums

How did Kate put it
My  bad?
anyway

I came across one about old commercials

and

I remember certain ones that really made me hungry

I actually craved a particular food
just by watching the commercial

Now I happen to know
after being in show biz for awhile in my past life
that there is a little secret
perhaps, some of you might not know?

in order to get some of those mouth watering items
to catch your eye

they usually have to do
some pretty disgusting and unappetizing things to it

but
thats another story

however

do you remember the Oscar Meyer Weiner commercials?
the one with the big hot dog car
that rode all over town
yet it never drove past my house
I digress

after watching
how they carefully placed

 a big juicy hot dog
in the center of a bun
 that you could almost smell

well
you just wanted a hot dog
right then and there
had to have it
asap

or
how about the commercial with the Campbell Soup Twins
with the catchy song
"soup and sandwich
soup and sandwich"

you wanted some soup and a Sandwich
in the worst way
even though I really don't care all that much for soup
except for chicken noodle
another story

but
because of the way they produced that commercial

having someone make you soup and a sandwich
made you feel loved

I should turn on the tv
watch a few commercials
get some ideas

for tonights dinner

but come to think of it

I do not recall any
that make me want to run to the nearest store
to make a purchase

how about you?

are you sick of your own cooking
do you make the same old things all the time
does the food look good on the plate
how is your presentation?

Just so you know
my answers  to the 4 questions above are
yes
yes
no
horrible

and may I ask
what are you having for dinner this evening?

how many of you make more than one thing for various family members
do you eat sitting down or standing up?
do you eat as a family in the kitchen
or
wherever you happen to be
are you watching tv
listening to music

how do you feel about candles?

I cant wait to read the comments!

oh, and one more thing before you go
do you have an easy
quick
idea
besides the 2 minute pot roast
with instant mashed patatoes
and microwaved veggies

I am having homemade eggplant parmigiana leftover from friday.
Hubby is having cream of tomato soup and crackers because ,poor guy, his tummy hurts.
My sons are having chicken and rice casserole.
As usual, it is a restaurant I am running here. I should be getting tips.

Circe
you put us all to shame
actually
I would love some salmon
I like it well done, not mushy
but my kids hate it!

sometimes I will go to extra trouble to make something really nice
I said, sometimes
not often!
anyway
those are the nights my girls will opt for a bowl of cereal instead, just like you
you silly rabbit

Let's see.......tonight is left over bolognaise sauce with good old spaghetti pasta!

Last nights must have been great, cos I can't even remember it!

We try and sit together as a family at the table most nights, and yes there are times when I'm cooking something different for fussy Miss 6.

I lurrrve candles! We have a dimmer switch in the dining room but if I ever try and be remotely romantic, hubby tells me he likes to see what his eating, thanks!!!

Hey, you could start a "thoughts cookbook"!!! Enjoy your dinner, whatever it may be :)

Last night I made dinner for my cousin who is a single mum and home from London for a couple of days, wild Irish salmon which I cooked with cream, white wine and dill and served it with new potatoes, asparagus sprinkled with parmesan and tiny, new carrots. Followed with home made rhubarb crumble with honeycomb ice cream and cream. It was very much appreciated. Did I mention the Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc?

over the hill and far away, this sounds like something on a menu at an expensive restaurant...I am so impressed and aware of how much my culinary skills are lacking...

"wild irish salmon" is so much more appetizing and nutritious than "fish sticks" "cooked with cream, white wine and dill," sounds better than "smothered in bbq sauce"....with "new potatoes," as opposed to "old potatoes that have been growing green whiskers", "asparagus with parmesan and tiny, new carrots"...on the other hand I serve, "soggy asparagus with stale carrots"
I think I need a little help?????
not only in what I serve, but how I describe it? This could be my next blog..it is another story about to be written...and as far as the "home made rhubarb crumble with honeycomb ice cream and cream"...OMG!!!! Home made!!!

Ive served Sara Lee pound cake on special occasions!
"Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc" um,
Did I mention, "SQUIRT"? anything served with squirt is an extra treat around here!

as I was saying, before it went poof, Kaybee, at first I thought you said baloney and I could relate but then when I read, bolognaise sause, I knew you were out of my league, and finally realized, Im in a league of my own!

a thoughts cook book? hum...it could cause quite a 'stir' around here...I cant let that idea go to 'pot'!

no, I will not spend the next 15 minutes jotting down puns...I have to figure out what Im going to make tonight for dinner...any ideas?

I have had great success with serving Marie Callendar frozen food. It kind of puts me off how much my kids like it though, as I am a very good cook.
The Betty Crocker company paid for part of my schooling.
I was embarrassed about that for years.
No, I did not major in home ec. It was for a test, kind of general trivia home related questions, I rose to that bait! And an essay, which being the good little essayer I am, that I aced.

Having nothing for dinner. I eat huge lunches at school and find that the older I get, I'm full pretty quickly! Nice not to have to cook dinner for a husband and kids, but when they come over, I cook like a maniac! XXX

circe
you crack me up
poor still kickin
everytime I read something of his
I get a bit confused
now, I really do not have a handle on what he is really like
because when I think of him
I picture your comments
its sort of like that movie
with the guy pretending to be a girl pretending to be a guy...you know the one, with Julie Andrews?

anyway
I digress
to comment on your comment
your husband should really let you talk
he is always taking the words right out of your mouth
but thats another story
anyway
I am very courious
tell me more about Betty Crocker ..is she off her rocker
I digress again

I mean, tell me about the job and the schooling...and tell your husband to be quiet, I want you to tell the story!
