there is no place like home
like thoughts.com ...Has anyone ever gone to the little town in Florida called Celebration.
It is Walt Disneys version of the perfect little community,
sort of like our own thoughts.com.
happens to be Bens version of the perfect blog community
 Instead of a house,
 we have a post,
and instead a block we have a blog.
 remember block parties?
We had a blog party in Vegas

another story
when a new person moves into town
we have
our own
  welcome wagon
on hand to greet the newcomer
everyone arrives
 bearing gifts
like a little parade
one after another
to make the new guy feel welcome
these friendly neighbors never fail to show up
they are johnny on the spot,
ringing your doorbell
before you even unpack all your stuff
they gladly answer all your questions and tell you not to hesitate if you need anything
they encourage you as you set up your household
you can always go to them with your problems
or if you just want a cup of tea and a kind word
no one stays a stranger for long around here
its a typical community
complete with our own
town elders
and politicians
 preachers
doctors, lawyers, housewives, teenagers, little kids and wise old man
the neigbors can all be counted on to drop everything to help someone in need
whenever,
even at a moments notice
these generous human beings share their sense of humor
others their sensitivity, some people share their wisdom
yeah, occasionally we even have to deal with a crabby neighbor once in awhile
but if someone picks on you
beware
because
we have a very close knit group
and if you hurt one of us,
you will be scolded
we all stick up for our own
and if you don't like it here,
you can move
yet, most people settle down in this thoughful place
 and raise a little family
and
if one of us isn't feeling good
someone is on your doorstep checking up and offering a hand

we have become one big happy family
and it
really feels like home
just as Dorothy once said

there's no place like home
there's no place like home

I believe she said it twice
and
that's another story

Great post Roe. We need more real communities like that and need to foster the spirit of community.

(Do you all wear 'red dorothy shoes' too then? ;p)
