as far as my brother Bobs tragic story goes
I need to think about this before I continue...
something I rarely do,
that is....
think before I act,
I usually overrule my built in filter...
I forget I even have one
anyway
I have written Bobs entire story
many times and many ways
with so many versions
they sit collecting dust
somewhere around here
probably buried in a bin
all are unpublished
his stories are among many novels I have it my repertoire,
some are hidden in files or notebooks
although I cant quite put my fingers on them at the moment,
but I do not need to find any of them,
to recount a few
I have them memorized...
they could write themselves
the first story I ever wrote about my brother
was entitled
happy birthday Bob, where ever you are
Bob was the kind of person that insisted on celebrating his b day on the exact date of his birth
he was our baby
born in Little Company of Mary Hospital
believe it or not
even though I was only three
I still remember the day my dad drove my brother Bill and I to the hospital
to see Bobby
but we were not allowed in the building
so my mom brought my baby brother to the window and we all waved to him
and jumped up and down and cheered
I guess that was his minus one b-day
June 1,1954
all three of us were 1 1/2 years apart
I was the oldest
Bob loved his birthdays
it was not acceptable to him to choose a weekend closest to the big day
to celebrate
he enjoyed making a big deal out of his big day
balloons, streamers, decorations, cake and ice cream, party favors, hats, horns
the whole nine yards
I sent that first story
to Bob Greene
he had written a book about Bobs
during that time all sorts of things were out there in the media connected with the name Bob
does anyone remember the movie
what about Bob
anyway
I never heard from Mr. Greene
at that time...
but that's another story
I just don't know if I am able to share a few stories about my brother
right now
on this blogging site
I don't want to hurt my 81 and 85 year old parents,
they are a little more
lets just say
private
than I am
then again
not to many people adopt the open book policy like myself
come to think about it
my parents do not even read
my blobs
as they call them
anyway
they only read the ones I print out for them
and they think they are way too long anyway
