Roses Get your Roses, Pick a rose, not your nose
Myrtle and I went to college together but lost touch
until one night when we ran into each other again on Rush Street.
Those were the good old days!
She and I had so many crazy adventures,
I could write a book, but that's another story
this is only one of many
------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------
Myrtle is the name I'm giving my girlfriend
until I get a hold of her to ask if she minds if I use her real name.
------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------

One very dull Tuesday evening
while we were sitting around Myrtles apartment on Belmont and Sheridan
a dozen roses arrived
they were from a guy she found
 very... distasteful,
diplomatically speaking.
We began discussing how we would rather have the money,
 than the roses.
What were we going to do with them?
We couldn't eat them,
 or wear them,
they were just going to die,
like her feelings already did,
for this creep.
So what the heck...
I suggested we sell them.
  It was a boring night,
it was time for a caper...
Sell them? she said.
Yes
sell them
we have a dozen
we could probably get $2 to $5 per rose
 if we sold them separately
Lets go for it!
It will be a riot
We will be like those chicks who stand on street corners yelling
ROSES!
ROSES!
get your pretty roses!
sort of like eliza doolittle
buy a rose for your pretty women
etc
Myrtle thought it was a splendid idea.
Although, first,
we had to change our clothes
and get into character
we went for sort of a
 gypsy look

laughing the entire time

searching for her biggest hoop earrings

after we chose our fake names and our costumes
we headed for Broadway and Belmont

now that crazy area is another story all together
I digress
back to this one

anyway

we held up our roses,
one at a time
waved them at passing cars
and strolling pedestrians
and
secretly prayed we didn't see anyone we knew
with our best gypsy voices
Myrtle and I yelled
Roses, Get your Roses
Hi, handsome, you should buy your girl a rose
she is so pretty etc
and lets not forget
where we were
more often than not we said
hi handsome, you should buy your hot guy a rose
TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT
WE MADE ENOUGH MONEY
TO purchase DINNER
FOR TWO
AT  BROWNS CHICKEN
and may I add
IT WAS MIGHTY TASTY TOO
 we even had change
so
we bought a couple of frozen yogurts
and
cracked ourselves up all the way home
