Hi Bloggers!

dear Circe
aka Annette Benning for passing the baton

since you twirled it
I am going to run it in and out of my fingers
then through my legs
yea right!
that's another story!
I follow in the footsteps of:
this reminds me of that game where you say
I am going on a vacation and Im going to bring apples
and the next person says,
I am going on vacation and Im going to bring apples and a life jacket and
sorry
I digress
those footsteps belonged to

a little background info first
A sabbatical (from the Late Latin sabbaticus, from the Greek sabbatikos, from Hebrew shabbathon, i.e., Sabbath. )
is a rest from work, a hiatus.
The concept of a sabbatical has a source in several places the Bible (Leviticus 25, for example),
where there is a commandment to desist from working the fields
in the seventh year.
In the strict sense therefore,
a sabbatical lasts a year.
However, in recent times, a sabbatical has come to mean
any extended absence in the career of an individual.
In the modern sense,
one takes a sabbatical typically to merely take a break from work
or
to fulfill some goal, e.g., writing a book or traveling extensively for research.
now here is the question if you are just scrolling to find it
Imagine this
You and you alone are released from all of your responsibilities and worries, which naturally include family and work and money,
and granted a year’s sabbatical to do whatever you wish.
Remember money is no object and this is a solitary experience,
you will be doing this alone, without any significant others.
Because this is a fantasy of sorts,
do not worry,
you will not be lonesome!
Think about it...
Tell us how you would spend your sabbatical for a year!!
My answer
I would find that house in the movie with Diane Keaton and Jack Nickleson on Cape Cod
and move in with the bare essentials,
if it did not fit into a small suitcase,
forgetaboutit.
I do not want to carry all sorts of shit everywhere I go,
like I normally do, I want to learn to travel light!
I want to feel totally unencumbered and light as a feather.
I would pray, read and write and take long walks and go exploring
for new experiences or adventures
meeting new people along the way for an entire year.
I would only purchase one book at a time
and as soon as I finished it,
I'd give it away to someone I met that particular day.
After about a month, at the Cape,
reading, writing, praying and going for long walks every day
I would practice centering myself as I do my posts.
Then, I’d take a trip to Europe
where I would continue to enjoy my leisurely walks
in and out of museums and visit all sorts of places of interest
while immersing myself in the culture,
still reading, writing and praying daily. I
I would explore my roots in Ireland,
take an art class in France
and study art history in Italy.
The majority of my time would be spent meeting new people
and observing them in their environments.
If I had a chance to meet and spend time
with some famous wise people I would,
but Id settle for and be perfectly happy with
the everyday man and women and child.
I would take the time, because I had it,
to see what was on the other side of the street
or at the end of a corner and if there was any type of gathering,
I would find a cozy spot or an outdoor café to sit and take a few notes
and perhaps even join the group.
I would engage all sorts of people,
young and old,
in conversation and spend as much time as they would allow,
to ask them a million questions about themselves and their lives.
I would take pictures of everyone and everything along the way,
keeping a journal about my experiences
and saving all the names and addresses of the fascinating people,
that hopefully became my new friends,
I had encountered on my journey.
Feeling rushed or stressed would never be a part of my day,
because I would not be expected anywhere at any time.
Plus, I would be able to take advantage of every single opportunity
to learn something new daily.
I would go to lectures and book signings and take a few classes;
one would definitely be a dance class.
After I had my fill,
I’d allow enough time to go back to my house on the Cape
(the one in the movie)
and write about my experiences until someone knocked on the door
to tell me my time was up and I had to go home.
Hopefully at the end of the year,
I would have enough material for a best selling book.
and that would be
my story
and I'm stickin to it!
one more thing
because of the fantasy part I thought Id add
this year would be spent alone
figuring,
it might change your answer
depending who might be tagging along,
and I did not want that to enter into the equation,
knowing how unselfish most of you seem,
you might alter your plans to make others happy
which is fine and noble
yet
I really thought it would be interesting to find out how
You
would spend the year
although
If that is unimaginable to you
please share what you would do
if others were along for the ride and tell us who they are
besides
I did not want to have a 2 parter
only one question
since I have been known to complain about these long multiple
questions of the day
but by golly
I would rather hear your ideas
than not!
therefore
if you would like to change your answer or add any thing with this new
clause in the question
feel free
please!
