FREE TO BE YOU AND ME
she had no way of knowing what the future held for Michael Jackson.
He and Roberta Flack were the two characters
Singing and acting in this scene
Michael was a member of the very successful Jackson 5
and fairly normal by Hollywood standards.
The lyrics of this song are especially telling.
Well, I don't care if I'm pretty at all.
And I don't care if you never get tall.
I like what I look like, and you're nice small.
We don't have to change at all.
No one on this planet has had changed
more
than Michael Jackson
If you watch this little segment on u tube
you can’t help but notice
what a good looking kid
He actually was
until he began altering his appearance with numerous plastic surgeries
sadly
today
he is disfigured
and is a bit of a mystery
to most of us
he
exhibits rather odd behavior
walks around with masks and gloves
surrounded by children
and even became a parent himself
Michael has been the center of quite a bit of controversy
over the last few years
the old Michael Jackson is
almost unrecognizable.
Why was he so unhappy with his appearance?
What motivated him to endure all those surgeries?
So many human beings are dissatisfied with their looks
No one seems willing to age gracefully
Men and women are taking drastic measures to turn back the clock
Beautiful young girls think they are over weight
Their body image is totally distorted
Kids are going under the knife in alarming numbers
Nose jobs and breast enhancements are becoming graduation gifts!
Is it the media who perpetuate the myth of what the perfect body must look like?
we are all different
unique
and
special
We don’t have to change at all
We are perfect the way we are
All Made in the image and likeness of God
but
How in the world are we going to get this fact across to young kids
WHEN WE GROW UP
Attempted to spread this message
We all need to recognize ourselves for who we are
and accept others as well
its up to us to spread the message

Lyrics: When We Grow Up
When we grow up, will I be pretty?
Will you be big and strong?
Will I wear dresses that show off my knees?
Will you wear trousers twice as long?
Well, I don't care if I'm pretty at all.
And I don't care if you never get tall.
I like what I look like, and you're nice small.
We don't have to change at all.
Hey!
When we grow up, will I be a lady?
Will you be an engineer?
Will I have to wear things like perfume and gloves?
I can still pull the whistle while you steer.
Well, I don't care if I'm pretty at all.
And I don't care if you never get tall.
I like what I look like, and you're nice small.
We don't have to change at all.
When I grow up, I'm gonna be happy and do what I like to do,
Like making noise and making faces and making friends like you.
And when we grow up, do you think we'll see
That I'm still like you and you're still like me?
I might be pretty; you might grow tall.
But we don't have to change at all.
spoken: I don't want to change,
see, 'cause I still want to be your friend,
forever and ever and ever
and
ever and ever.
