| an old prayer from the old days

I have been searching old files on my computer and I came across this prayer that I wrote
on New Years day in 1997
wow,
my son was learning multiplication tables and now he is a sophmore in College
the things I have been reading tonight have touched me deeply
but thats another story
I thought Id throw this one out here, just for the heck of it
New Year Prayer
Today is the first day of a brand new year
Direction from God I’m longing to hear
I pray for knowledge, good judgement and faith in God
and I’d really love to reshape my bod
Please help me be a good Mother and Wife
keep me away from evil, temptation and strife
Please bless me with alot of good friends
and to the others, let me make amends
I want to be good and praise you and give you glory
But I know you know my story
I need to finish whatever I start
with those bad habits I should part
I need my tongue to obey your laws
and I should avoid looking for others flaws
Let me help those who are in need
give me grace to plant a seed
Help me get my kids into the pearly gates
and please choose for them a few good mates
I may not be able to show them how to hem
But I could be a good example to them
I need to read to my crew and teach them right from wrong
play and dance and sing along
Keep us all healthy and in good cheer
give us courage to face our fear
Pain was your way of getting my attention
You have it now, so what’s your intention?
Now that it is 1997
Show us how to get to heaven!!!
This clutter that I seem to store
needs to go to others who need it more
Help me to organize and give me direction
Help me to nuture my kids and provide them protection
Keep us away fom evil and temptation
and help J.R. with his multiplication
Let us continue to be loving and giving
So please help my Husband earn a good living
There are so many ways to increase our wealth
But more important, is our families health
Please give me patience day and night
and help my kids not to fight
Help me to do your will
and not run up the Visa bill
I’d like to learn more about nutrition and food
I know it influences our general mood
Teach me to quote from the Big Book
and while you are at it, show me how to cook
dont let me forget to thank you everyday
and remind me I have to pray

thanks everyone
whenever I post something, I often wonder if anyone would want to read it, more often than not, I decide, nah, too boring, or too long, or too dumb, or too something, then the comments totally surprise me and I let out a big sigh of relief and think, well, it was worth it to someone...so thanks for your comments...I'll keep blogging along
