I had been trying to write a story all day long and kept getting interrupted.
At around 4:30, I thought I was going to have at least 1 entire hour all to myself.
so
since I had been stuck in the house all day,
I decided to take my computer outside
and get some fresh air.
Of course I had to bring the dogs along
because their little sad eyes were staring at me
silently pleading
besides
they needed fresh air too.
Allowing the dogs to tag along entailed puppy proofing the area
dragging the leaf blower out of the garage
untangling the extension cord
and
finding an outdoor outlet that worked.
After accomplishing that,
I had to blow the area where I was going to sit
so that the dogs did not eat anything on the ground that might disagree with them.
Then I had to get the portable fence and make a big circle
where I had intended to write
so Max and Molly wouldn't run away.
Then I made a half a dozen trips into the house to retrieve some toys
and their comfie little beds
a treat or two
plus a bowl of water
and
that's when I realized I was thirsty too
so back I went for a bottle of water
when I spotted an orange
that looked mighty tasty,
so I grabed it while walking out the door.
However
Just before I sat down,
I realized I'd probably drip the juice from the orange all over myself,
so I turned around in search of a napkin.
As soon as I sat down
one of my daughters called and asked me to fax something,
and since our fax machine is still not hooked up as yet,
because of the construction,
I had to call my neighbor to see if I could go next door and use theirs.
After successfully faxing the important document,
I found my way back to my chair,
the temporarily abandoned barking dogs
and my computer.
next
I carefully arranged everything
made sure it was all within reach
the water, the phone, the orange, the napkin, the computer, the dogs
and while I was waiting for the computer to
rev up
the wind almost blew my entire makeshift outdoor office away
in one fell swoop
I tried to ignore the warning signs of a big storm approaching
on the horizon
until the dogs were practically in my lap
afraid of the dark clouds and strong winds
needless to say
it took quite a long time to drag all that stuff back in the house
and guess what?
an entire hour had passed
the kids were home
including the college student
talk about blowing an opportunity
oh, thats another story
it was time to make dinner
so much for my story!
I will most certainly try again
