| a cute day? curious phenomenon |

We really need a new family portrait.
It has been ages since all six of us posed together.
I am constantly grabbing great shots of the kids
although
I personally need a cute day before I am willing
to say, “cheese.”
A cute day is a curious phenomenon.
You wake up in the morning and for no apparent reason everything jells.
Make up goes on effortlessly and hair behaves.
As luck would have it, undoubtedly this is the very day a haircut is scheduled.
Nevertheless, it’s totally amazing how the whole package comes together.
You throw on an ordinary little outfit that has been in your closet forever
and
voila,
not only is your appearance altered in some cosmic way,
your day just sort of flows.
This transformation that I call
“cute”
actually encompasses a whole lot more than physical beauty.
Movie star looks are not required
you don’t recognize a cute day on your own until the questions begin.
Have you been on vacation, changed your hair or lost weight?
If the answer is no,
you must be having a cute day!
There is no other logical explanation.
Converesly
questions like,
what’s wrong,
you look tired,
are you feeling sick,
brainwash you into thinking you need to lay down
when only minutes before you were perfectly fine.
Now and then one may suffer from delusional cute days.
This is a very dangerous state.
Thinking you look great,
you willingly smile for every photo op
and
when the pictures are developed
you wonder why your family
ever allowed you to go out in public.
Have you noticed that cameras never seem to be around to capture you at your best
yet everyone wants to take your picture when you feel like hiding?
Unfortunately,
you can never repeat a truly cute day,
because you have no idea why you ever had one in the first place.
If you try to wear the same outfit,
apply the same lipstick and duplicate your hairstyle,
it simply cannot be done.
When your cute day is over, it’s over!
The pressure to have a cute day on a special occasion is enormous.
I will never forget the ugly cold sore that erupted a week after my honeymoon.
When that monster appeared,
I thanked God he showed his mercy and waited until after I walked down the aisle.
Each morning I look for the signs of a possible cute day and so far I have not had much luck.
This mysterious state cannot be predicted or planned.
If it happens, spontaneity is the key.
Getting the rest of the family together,
finding the camera and someone to snap the picture is a breeze.
My oldest daughter is getting married im 2 weeks,
we are praying for a cute day,
we could care less about the weather.
But thats another story.
