A GUIDE POST, A BEACON OF LIGHT!
</script>">
check your sarcasm at the door
and
please wipe your feet
let's keep the mud outside
if you don't mind

all are welcome to take shelter
here in the lighthouse

seems many members
have been hanging out with the wrong crowd
spending time in the nasty part of blog town

We will be passing out maps and flashlights
to all intersted parties

think of this blog as a

guide post

guiding you toward the light

the word
popularity is not allowed in here
this is not a contest of any sort
nor a competition
it's a safe house

oh and that big guy in the tower
will delete anything inappropirate

so don't bother to come around
if you want to start trouble
have your fun in another part of town

you would only be bored here anyway

This is a drama free zone
a resource
an oasis

We will help each other shed
light on a wide range
of subjects and styles of bloggers

from here

we might send you to
read some poems
short stories
pearls of wisdom
journals
mysteries
comedies
every kind of thought imaginable
we are going to help each other
shine  a beacon of light
on some well respected members of our community

if you have been lost or confused
  missing the
old thoughts

stick around
we will show where it is

it never left

its been here the entire time

well maybe
it's been clouded in all this darkness

all we need is a little light

then we will find our way back
to never never blog land

If you are tired of all this nonsense
move toward this beacon of light
let us direct you to a blog
worthy of your time

after all
if you keep losing your way
we will surely lose you
and we certainly dont want that to happen

Hopefully
this lighthouse will direct you
towards much brighter thoughts

come one come all

the links are on us

 for heavens sake
enjoy your time
while logged on to thoughts.com

we have quite a bit of burried treasure here
you just have to know where to look

ok people
we need your help
in order to accomplish our mission

Have you read a post
that might have been informative or inspirating?
An original work
interesting or entertaining
something
to put a smile on your face
or
actually make you laugh out loud.

As a result of reading someone elses thoughts were you prompted to think about an issue
you had never considered?

  have certain wise words
improved your mood
by providing
a better outlook
on your situation

Have you come across anything so cativating that it held your attention from beginning to end?

  Think
  certain authors help improve
our writing or vocabulary skills

have you found yourself remarking
Yeah, thats me!
or
wow, that was enjoyable
or clever
or witty
or profound

Did you learn something
that you did not already know
or were you reminded
of something you always seem to forget

Did someone's shared thought
keep your attention from beginning to end

Tell us about the blogger
you respect or admire
or the one who you
believe has real talent
and leave a link here

one link per comment please

and a brief description of the blogger or post

We want to know why you think
we should visit this person
Please do not forget that important detail

You are welcome

to return and add as many links
as you like

if you dont know how to drop a link
tell us the name of the author
the title of the post
and the date it was written
we will all have flashlights
we'll find it!

confusing, I know....
this is a link to the sister post for this one?

There are many ways we can praise someone, yet "thehseenz" says it all in her profile...
some of us have not shared much in that location, although thehseenz, spoke to me in her own words which captivated me from the start and Ive read every single one of her posts and highly recommend her.

http://www.thoughts.com/thehseenz
I am an ardent believer of the basic unity and goodness of man. The diversity of human thought and Mother Nature delights me. Selfless service is my motto (the fool that I am!). Yet I am a pragmatic idealist struggling to merge logic and reason with faith and love in my painful toil towards truth. I believe in countering evil with good, terrorism with nonviolence, and hatred with love. (I fail a lot but I keep trying!)

I do not want to go on and on about myself at the risk of sounding like a pompous jerk. If you read my blog you will understand my ideals and dreams better than any self-description can convey. Whenever I have felt that I have an adequate understanding of any truth which is being misunderstood by the world at large, I have tried to dispel the misconceptions that prevail. I do not expect anyone to agree with me or adopt my beliefs. As I said earlier, I am happy to see a divergent viewpoint, as I am sure there are many things that you can teach me.

----------------
This is exactly the kind of person I am attracted toward..and there are plenty more fabulous people on this site, they have just been a little out of sight...or out of the limelight... lets shine a little light on some of these individuals...

thanks everyone!
I hope to see a positive response!
oh and by the way....
This 'guide post' is an attempt to do as this wise women suggests,
counter evil with good!

Once again,Roe,I have to agree 100% with you."thehseenz" is the epitome(big word for me) of brotherhood and understanding we should be looking for here. She has been an inspiration and a friend to me since she came on here.A REAL feel good person with COMMON SENSE. I would wish that she posted more often.Thanks.

A superb idea. Lots of bloggers I enjoy and value for their humour, clarity, insights and sheer artistry, but keeping to your one-link-per-comment request, I'll nominate Steve Hayes:

http://www.thoughts.com/stevehayes13

Almost anything he has written. Pick something at random, you won't be disappointed.

Heck, sorry Roe, this will take forever otherwise. I recommend seeking out

Bootlady (already mentioned in dispatches above)
Evetspordlaw
Circe
LynBarnes

All good.

Thanks Perigo
I suppose the one link per comment suggestion was a bad idea. Thank you so much for all your wonderful suggestions. Your opinion is well respected around the neighborhood.

hello overthehillandfartoolongofaname...lol
Im glad you picked up on "the links are on us" line! Yes, you are so right, we should think of this as a party, not a roast or a pity party...a real celebration of some terrific people.

plus

I do not want this to be one of those post where people look for their name and if its not included... they feel bad. Perhaps if we drop a link and explain why we named another member, we might avoid the emotion or drama...lets try to keep that out of the equation.

As to how to accomplish that, I'm up for suggestions...I certainly do not want anyone to have hurt feelings...my purpose is strictly to point members in the right direction and get them away from the ugliness.

who said, "There is gold in them there hills, let's pan for it!" ...Was it the same guy that said, "Go west young man, go west!" Regardless, we have a lot of "gold stars" right here at thoughts.com, no need to go elsewhere for quality.

Roe thnx for this post.

I will maybe contribute here altho sometimes I feel selfishly that I want to just keep some a 'little secret'.

I wished we could place links that actually could be clicked on to go to their bloggies but I also realize that it is a good thingie not to have that available in comments for many other reasons.

Have a great week Roe.

Are you blushing? I can't tell? We look forward to your list! Thanks for participating.

I hope everyone that follows you, remembers to give us the link or links
or a name or date of a particular post.

Do you mind if I use this space to add another concern...I thought if everyone named one or two and told us why, then later returned with additional gems, it would not give anyone the impression that blogger A or blogger B only valued those certain individuals. You may believe I am over thinking this way too much, but I have seen how something good and innocent has the potential to turn nasty.

Posted by  roe  on 2009-09-16 12:29:34

Good people do not harbour envy in their hearts (I think that covers that), I will be pleased if my friends are mentioned :D.

~If this turns nasty it will show the true nature of the person that cant stand another to be praised that in its self is wrong~

I do love this blog~Guess I'm a little sad right now but im big enough to admit when I step over a line~this is your space~I will honor it~.

Hello
I think I have solved my own debacle, the one where I was concerned about hurt feelings if someones name was inadvertently omitted from this GUIDE POST.

I make it a point to tell people repeatedly how I feel (sometimes in an e mail) to thank them for something they posted, just in case what I had to say might have been a bit too long to leave in their comment section.
(Would not want to be accused of leaving long comments now would I?)

Perhaps we should all try to make an effort to let our fellow bloggers know on a regular basis how much we appreciate something they took the time to write.
That being said
If you happen to run across this blog and do not see your name and you think,

HEY WHERE IS MY LINK, SHE IS SUCH A FINK, AND I THOUGHT WE WERE FRIENDS
You will not be offended because you already know how much you are admired.

Many members have expressed their concern for what they believe to be a negative atmosphere permeating our site. It seems like we receive daily departure notices of closed accounts.
The sole purpose for this
BEACON OF LIGHT GUIDE POST
is to say,
"Guys, wait one minute here, before you pack your bags, we would like to point you in another direction!"
From where I sit, the air is fresh and the view is spectacular, perhaps those disgusted and depressed people should move their chair over just a tad, in order gain a different vantage point and a whole new perspective. If you are looking for something good to read, grab a flashlight, and get yourself a map, and take a look at a few other members, ones you might have overlooked.
I would venture to say, if you do, you will certainly feel a whole lot better.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results or something like that
well, if all you do is read the POPULAR LISTS
I detest that high school word, another story
then you will continue to feel miserable. It is your choice.
Believe it or not, some people actually like to feel miserable and that too is another story and this is sounding like another blog
oophs! I apologize for digressing.

Posted by  roe  on 2009-09-16 16:04:30

Ohh Love the word digress :P, Roe you are an inspiration I have never seen you be rude to anyone only fair, I think this is a good Idea I even think that maybe we ought to have a recommended reading section here but it is not my place to pursue that :)...

~I wish only happy thoughts for EVERYONE here at thoughts and hope that negative posts meet an untimely end~

Ok think Im done now ;).

People always love to see their names in print, and we all know that we like to hear our writings praised, but if we see this as a cheering section for us all, then we will also realize that just cause our name is not showing up today doesn't mean it won't. And, we should also just be happy for the ones who are receiving the accolades due them for their writing. I am not sure where others would have me start, but I am GOING to start with:

1. Roe for having this great idea in the first place.
2. PM for encouraging us all to write, read, and enjoy each other's work
3. David for being so encouraging to all, and a great example to follow
4. Elaine for being a great mentor and an encouragement to all

and I will be back with four more in a bit. If I do them in groups of four, I know that I can manage. And, may I say that no matter who I mention or don't mention, you are ALL my blessings, as I have told you many times, and I have learned much from each and every one of you.
Posted by  Shea  on 2009-09-16 16:29:16

great minds etc.. I commented on one of Elaine's posts that I'd like to see an "I reccommend" spot.. lo and behold.. so:
Dreadnaught.. amazing- just amazing.
Gruenie.. depth and beauty.
Good_news..his beautiful combination of scripture, art, and prayer is the best faith based site
and one of Bucks last requests was to bring attention to new, promising writers so:
Aian.. writes with a burning passion for justice... and improving every post..
more to come.. and thanks Shea..

I look forward to reading whatever you have to say! Do me a favor girlfriend, try to get out and get some fresh air. Hun, like my Dad always says, "only your friends will tell you" I think you need a little sun. Have fun!

Roe my dear friend, you are so right you have said it now, so lets pray it will be done as it is written.
AS I don't mind about not seeing my name up every day, that's ok, because when I check I see that many have read it anyway and this is what counts,as long as people read why worry about any comments, but it is good to hear how others respond to your writings.

God loves you
so do I

If I were to stand in front of you right now you would be crushed in a great big bear hug! What a delight you are and the idea! I love this beacon of light here on thoughts. Would Ben consider to have another tag, called member recommended posts? Maybe make it a weekly event? Well possible or not, you my dearest person, are a joy!

Some recommendations:

ras2K12 is a blogger that writes his ideas well.
Going to his basement of his blog might be best to
get to know his style and words.
http://www.thoughts.com/ras2k12/blog <~~ the link to his entire blog.

EZWAYZ is a delightful blogger. He has been on thoughts a while but
it was not until recently that i stumbled upon him and found his warmth
in his writings. Again his basement in his blog is loaded with all kinds
of goodies. I kinda have a soft spot for him becuz he reminds me at times
of my son Ezra who we do call from time to time EZ. So have a little
look at some of his writings and enjoy.
http://www.thoughts.com/EZWAYZ/blog <~~~ the link to his entire blog

I will come back again in a day or so and post more. there are ever so many.

PS ~ Roe maybe you might want to check with thoughts staff as to whether this post could be made "sticky" at the top of the oh so top posts list. There is a way to make a blog post sticky ~
and perhaps they might code for that for this post. It just seems that this could be one heck of
a good post to sit right there at the top so anytime and any day people could use this for reference.

I am so happy someone finally mentioned one of my favorites and one of the original members here... he is a productive, positive addition. Stick (Badlydrawnstickman)is a gifted writer and his post are truly unique and so is his profile!
He is not only a mentor to many, Mr Stick is the voice of reason in all his well thought out comments. Sticky is generous, witty and intelligent and cute to boot..... nothing at all like his picture... Did I just digress Stick, that's another story!

I am thrilled so many of you took the time to read this post
including my endless comments...you are all such a joy...thank you.

FYI
There is a section in the forums, under the announcements, (boot lady just discovered it) that did not create much response...most people used the space to recommend their own blogs...which is a great idea, but not for that particular thread....there are 2 or 3 other places created for you to promote your own site... Those links are listed on the pr site.

Thoughts.com has discussed many of these ideas and are always working on improvements, yet there are some bigger issues taking priority at the moment, exciting ones that will make everyone very happy, so please, just hang in there.

Keep checking the pr blog and the announcement section in the forum for new info... If you want a short cut to the publicist blog...Hit the avatar to the right, not too hard though, easy does it, that's me in my blue suit, and I bruise easily!

What a great group...you warm my heart...big smile

I am really sorry that I have been so late in responding to this. You have such a wonderful way of bringing people together and bringing joy to our hearts. Thank you for this great idea and I am very grateful for including me in it. I think my big fat head will explode. Thank you Cabinfever and PastorMike. I do not deserve such kindness. I sincerely miss Thoughts and the camaraderie that it offers.

As for mentioning the names of the bright stars that adorn the Thoughts space, may I quote from my letter to you, %u201CApart from your writing which I am an ardent fan of, I am also interested in the ideas of Bigd49 and DifficultSoul, stirred by the openness and warmth of Ellie2008, gkc1968, and EasytoSay, moved by the courage of nsemn8r, Tony51203, (Imluuvd and Chomwedzi also but both are not active at the moment) and have huge respect for Cabinfever's big heart, enjoy funnyman57's comments, learn much from rallen2, pastormike, adore michelle8angels who is a true sunshine, admire the commitment of thehughman1. Of course there is Circe and BootLady, both excellent writers and a great joy to read. AllthingsBuck and Overthehill.. always radiating warmth and last but certainly not the least- pitapie50 who never ceases to put a smile on my face at the end of the day.%u201D

Try as I might, I have not been able to be as active as I was formerly at Thoughts although I visit as often as I can to respond to mails and share the odd post that comes to my mind. I apologize. My love and good wishes to all of you, each a dear and valued friend. For me, every post that I leave for you here is a labor of love, a piece of my soul. Thus it is as if I am never apart. Peace.

I don't like to travel too far from home, being an intorvert's introvert, so I am tardy.

I am flattered to be in such amazing company. I myself enjoy reading the following:
BadlyDrawnStickMan;Circe; Greunie; Evetspordlaw; Perigo Minas; SteveHayes13; Dreadnaught; BootLady; Desinq. All of whom found me first, me being such a homebody.

A new one I've started reading, at BootLady's recommendation is Firewater. Suxanadu is very peaceful to read. IncessantRambling is pretty insightful and interesting. And before I get rambling t0o excessively--done.
