| POLITICAL PANDERING |
|
You know, I understand that todays educational system is in the crapper, but is it mostly producing dummies or are there some who have a little sense about them. My point........
Todays politicians make promises that can not be kept. Such as.....
Lower gas prices (not temporary, but permanent)
Better living conditions through higher minumum wage
Free healthcare
Social Security for all...
Now you get the point, there are many more, but I will address these.
Lower gas prices....What a joke. The ONLY way to lower these prices would be to lower our dependancy on foriegn oil. This can only be accomplished by exploring our own soil and fanatical environmetalist have blocked that. Also the government would have to abolish the massive taxes they have on oil. Today if the price of gas is $3 around $1.75 is direct taxes. Have we ever seen any party in the government lower taxes and keep them lower. NO! How with excluding the only things that would lower the prices of gas, could any politician convince oil barons, investors, and gas companies to make less money so we could have lower prices. They can't. And to top it off, Obama says he will add millions of taxes to the gas companies since they have made such a profit. Who the hell does he think will pay for these taxes. Does he really believe the companies will swollow the cost. We will pay it by paying even that much more for gas.
Higher base wages. This will allow non-skilled workers to live better. What idiot came up with this plan. Again, a company decides what to charge the consumer by demand and cost. If something now costs $100 dollars and the company is forced to pay numerous workers additional hourly wages, the price of that item will increase dramatically. And it has a dominoe affect. Over a short period of time, everything will go up. Anm example...when the base wage was $4.15 and it went up to $5.15, in two weeks, Burger King increased their food cost 25 %, Walmart changed nearly every price in their store, and gas increased also although there was no substantial increase to the cost of a barrel of oil. Look at the states that have increased minimum wages in their state such as CA. Cost of living is much higher even for basic items. The base wage employees live no better that they do in lets say NC, maybe even worse. Education is the answer to better living, not a wage increase.
Free healthcare is the biggest lie ever told. I lived in a country with the so called free healthcare and it was far from free. The amount of taxes paid was much higher than here, the wiating list for service was absolutely insane, the quality of care was substandard, black market healthcare is rampant, and many of us came to the states just to escape the "free healthcare". The very notion anything is free is ludicrous. To believe the government can operate anything without bankrupting us is even more ludicrous. Can I say Socail Security.... and we put money into that and yet it will be broke in 20 years or less. Imagine what a socialist plan will do to us.
Social Security wow. It is nearly broke and yet no politician will stnd up and say it needs reform and it needs it now. Maybe it even needs to be ended. Granted those who have paid into it for years deserve their rightful money from it. But for the rest, it needs to be done away with. Or we will face huge debt in just a few years trying to keep it afloat.
Pandering is a key to politics, but when will we start to understand pandering is just a sweet way to say lying.
