| Fast Food: What Is It Good For

When McDonalds, Arby’s, Burger King, KFC, and Wendy’s open their doors in the morning and the breakfast rush arrives, the smoothly running process takes away from the atmosphere of food that could last the whole week, sitting in its own grease and fat under a heat lamp, waiting to give its next victim a heart attack or stroke. Although some of the people that come to these restaurants realize the risk of eating this food nightly, most don’t, and many people have died from eating this food. Fast food has more calories that other food. There have been many incidents where people thought that Subway was “healthier”, but the average Italian 6in Subway sandwich has 900 total calories. That is only 400 calories less that a Whopper. When Subway advertises that they have healthier food, than they better really mean it. A single egg McMuffin has 300 total calories, not to mention 110 calories from fat. The biscuit that this egg McMuffin is on is only 40 calories less than the whole sandwich. I think that if McDonalds and other fast food chains used healthier ingredients, then they would have a healthier output, and a better social image. Mortally obese people need these things to energize them. Facts show that one in every five people are obese. “What is obese?” you might ask. Obese means when a person is 30% over the ideal height weight area. The amount of obese children has doubled over the past 20 years. Being obese doesn’t only mean being overweight; it could also mean having diseases such as diabetes, sleep apnea and respiratory illnesses. The portion sizes for fast food restaurants are far larger than necessary. Because of this, the rate of obese people has gone up, especially because of the low prices. Obese people need to eat this food. People with larger body mass need to eat food with a larger fat and calorie count so they can keep up their energy. The frequency I believe that the fast food chains use some type of addictive property in their food, such as when the cigarette companies upped the amount of nicotine in the tobacco to make the cigarette more addicting. When rats were fed fatty and sugary foods, then the supply was cut off, the rats acted as if they had anxiety. When the rats ate fast food, their brain changed to make them eat six times the amount of fat foods. That means that this could happen in people. The fact is that fast food is bad.
