 Blog 5. MUSIC
I guess that music would be a variable of my identity. I seem to be open minded towards various kinds of music, my favorite things to listen to is Rap/Hip-hop, Rock, Reggae, and Oldies. My community, family, and friends have influenced my taste in music. Music relates to my community because the music and lyrics connects to the experiences of the people with my community. If it was not for my older brother I might have never known, about led zeppelin, or the doors. I probably would have viewed rock music as a typical rap fan, as a thing that “White boys” like.  As Soon as I arrived in High School, I would discover the Punk Rock Scene. I was surprised at the amount punk rock is similar to rap music. Both are Creations of a larger community of working class youth, with almost similar point of views. Along with the amount of music I do enjoy, there is also a large amount of music I hate. I hate much of the mainstream, because of its intent to sell the viewers perspectives of the status quo. Music is one of the most wonderful creations by humans, and like many or all of the best things on this planet have be capitalized. Music has almost lost its natural connection to a community, and is now mostly a means of gaining capital. It still Good music, but it can get annoying. I can say that music has had in influence on my points of view, and the manner i identify myself in society.

I love music too. I agree with how influencial music is to our life. And I do think music, mainly "mainstream" music, nowadays has become a part of the instant pop culture scene, which I think is an insult to all the greatly respected music that is rooted to the people. I'm glad to know that people, like you regard music as an important part of you life.

I totally agree with your opinions on the music being disconnected with the community, just today i was having a conversation in my music class about how todays music has no political views like Bob Dylans music because of the music companies not being able to capitalize off that. Music to me is one of the only think that keeps me going, i listen to everything also, i find it's good to be able to like different kinds of music and not be ashamed.

i really agree with what you wrote. i think music is part of my identity as well and i also think that the type of music you listen to is what makes you, because music seems to go hand in hand on what kind of clothes you wear and what type of people you hang out with. and just about everyone listens to music so it is probably very important to a lot of people.

im a rap person myself. not a lot of people know this, but i also like some of the mainstream music. to me music is music. somebody put an effort into it and it should be appreciated if you like the music or not. there are genres i do not like such as punk rock. nothing against them but i just dont feel the music.but they should still be appreciated. i love music and i dont know where this world will be if we didnt have music.
