I LIVE IN A PLACE CALLED SPIRITUAL AWARENESS

"Who are you, and what qualifies you to write this book?" That is a direct quote by the way. An agent posed the question. It was in the "How to Write Your Book Proposal" email she had sent me. And I knew what it meant. I knew what she was really asking. She was really asking,"How long have you been doing what you're doing ,and who taught you how to do it?"

Do you know what I really wanted to say? I wanted to tell her that I live in a place where amaryllises bloom into "angels", and orange juice spills in the shape of a heart. I wanted to say that the light in the living room blinks whenever I ask it a question, or someone from the other side wants to say "hello". I wanted to say that every day the silent voices speak to me, and I listen.

In other words, I wanted to tell the truth.

I asked my Guides for help. I politely requested that they channel my answer. But they were nowhere to be found and I knew why. Asking a question involves the brain; answering it requires thinking. They live in a place where thinking is not allowed.

So, I told the "other" truth. I told the agent what I do and how long I have been doing it. I said that I am a healer who helps people interpret their personal circumstances in a spiritual way. I told her about my writing experience- that I have been writing ever since I could hold a crayon. And I told her something she didn't ask. I told her why I wrote this book- to help people heal and transform their lives.

It took over a week to write my proposal. Fortunately, when it came to comparing and contrasting my book to the "spiritual awareness" books at the bookstore, my Guides stepped in to help. I asked them to show me the ones that were similar to mine, and they honored my request. I sat down in the perfect spot- two books similar to mine were directly in front of me.

There have been so many lessons on this publishing journey, and I intend to pass along everything I have learned to anyone who asks. I intend to light the way for others, as it was lit for me. As for why I wrote this book, I'll give you the short answer for now. Spirit was whispering and I just happened to be listening. You asked me to write down some words, so I did.
