 Anna Grylls update Thursday 8pm

It's been a hectic afternoon.  Read on.

First, Anna is much the same, she is sleeping a lot, doing the shuffle a little, not opening her eyes much.  She is very peaceful.

About 3pm Lael and I were enjoying lunch (another date!  two in one week!)  when we got the message that they were taking Anna for an MRI.  This was totally unexpected.  They took her down to the MRI, and while she was in there Lael and I went to Anna's room and prayed.  They brought her back, and we waited for Dr. Ayed to give us the results, which he did at around 5:30pm.

I must confess I was tense.  With the suddenness of the decision and everyone's somber faces, I thought he would give us bad news (more whales belly).

So, he took us through the pictures of Anna's brain.  First, do you all remember how we asked prayer that there would be NO SWELLING of her brain?  Well, have a guess...  there was NO SWELLING of her brain.

The part of the story that makes me jump up and down is this:  Dr. Ayed does not normally do an MRI at this stage, since he can't do anything with the information - it wouldn't make him alter his care, so why do it?  BUT if he hadn't done it now, we would never have known FOR SURE that there was NO SWELLING.  But because he did, we can see the direct answer to a direct prayer.

To cut a long story short, she has very little damage to her brain.  A little lighter shade of grey in a couple areas which indicate some damage, but nothing at all severe.

Dr. Ayed's main concern has been the lack of a gag reflex.  So yesterday we prayed specifically with Bro. Erickson that the next time he did the gag test, she would respond.  So after we'd finished discussing the MRI, I asked Dr. Ayed if he'd done it - he said he had done the test just before our meeting.  I asked him the result.  He paused for a moment, then said that she'd made the machine beep.  Not understanding, I questioned him for a while, and the bottom line is that she made a small, beginning, not at all strong, gag when he poked the back of her throat.  Wow.

Now might be an appropriate time to shout "Halleluia!" if you haven't done so already and are so inclined.

Now remember, Anna's symptoms haven't changed much at all.  She is still fighting for her life, same as before these encouraging reports, and answered prayers.  She looks just about the same as she did yesterday, the day before, etc.  We have renewed faith and encouragement, for which we give thanks to Almighty God.

Need I say, please keep praying, and we thank you all SO MUCH for your encouragement.

I also get a kick out of little things - like the fact that if you go to www.thoughts.com and click on "popular posts" near the top, currently every single one of the top 10 most-viewed posts on this entire website is about Anna.  I know it's not a big web site, but it still makes me smile...  :)

God bless,

Richard

Uncle Richard,
I feel like jumping right now also! It's amazing what God can if we only believe. I've never been so happy about someone gaging! He can do anything! Don't back down for the devil, he's a poodle dog on a leesh, and he can only go as far as God lets him. God has given us the authority, all we have to do is reach out and grab it!Well, God bless and love to all!

Tears came to my eyes as I read this. Amazing!!!
And I will say it... "Halleluia".
We will all keep praying for more gaging and more responding. Since working in a hospital I have learned that all of these little things, like gaging, come together for one amazing outcome. :-) Congrats and stay strong, as I know you both will.
** Best Wishes **

One last add on..... I too thought it was great that Anna Grylls is the most popular blog on here. When I come on her name is always in big bold letters at the top of the blog list. Shows all of the love and support you have and what a great husband, father, uncle, brother, and friend you are for sharing these details with those who love you all.

First of all, I have to say that I look for these updates regularly, it is so wonderful that you are able to do this. I don't know if I would be able to in the same situation. Our whole family is praying for sweet Anna. Getting updates regularly helps us to pray specifically, praise the Lord.

It's so good to hear of the changes taking place. I believe the Lord likes the change "inside" first, because once that is in alignment (with His word) the "outside" will take care of itself.

So... whale belly or not, the change is taking place within first!! Despise not the small beginnings!

God Bless! We're still praying for the manifestation of His word!

PRAISE GOD!! HALLELUJAH, HALLELUJAH, HALLELUJAH!! YOU ARE AN AWESOME AND MIGHTY GOD!!

It is wonderful to see God showing Himself powerful. We will continue to believe God for a complete healing that includes a rerouting in her brain if necessary. God is able. Mostly though, we will continue to pray that His perfect will be done and that He may be glorified through this trial. It's awesome to know that God can reach out to so many people using a child to lead them.

We love you, the whole church sends its love. Be Strong. Be Courageous.

Bro. Richard and Sis. Lael,
This blog brought tears to my eyes also. We're praying for a full recovery and strength for your family.
I have sent a prayer request and the link to this blog to everyone is my contacts. My cousin, who is in the medical field, wrote tonight and mentioned the following. Just wanted to make sure you know of this option and can ask the doctor about it if he hasn't already mentioned it.

"If you can let him know there is a treatment Hyperberic (oxygen treatments) that help force more oxygen in the body to aid in recovery. We have a member of our church's neice going thru treatments because of the same reason. THey state they can tell a difference in her. Their doctors may have already discussed this with them."

May God bless each one of you!!!!
