 Anna Grylls update Sunday 9pm

We had fun with the children here today, although it turns out that 7 people in a hospital room is quite a lot…  Both Bliz and I predicted that Bubba would last 15 minutes max, but thanks to a big bag of Hershey’s Kisses, it was probably 45 minutes before it was time to go play outside!

Some of you may wonder what we do all day with Anna.  Well, we do a bunch of things, but most of her care is to do with her trach, and keeping her airway open.  For example, this morning Bliz and I were here, and I wanted to show Bliz where the kitchen is.  The kitchen’s about 25 feet from our room.  So, before we left on our journey to the kitchen, I suctioned Anna’s trach tube well to get all her lung secretions out of it.  So, we went to the kitchen, and I showed Bliz the fridge where we get our milk and juice.  We selected some chocolate milk, and returned.  A trip of maybe three minutes.  Well, in that time, Anna’s trach tube had virtually plugged up with secretions so she basically couldn’t breathe.

So when she’s awake and active, she’s always about three minutes from suffocation.  Now, when she’s sleeping, and sometimes when she’s awake, her lungs don’t produce much secretion, and we don’t have to suction her much at all – maybe once an hour or less.  But much of the day she can’t be left alone.  The nurses do a great job as far as they can, but they’ll only come in after the monitor alarms, sometimes a minute or two after the monitor alarms, and by that time she’s already been basically unable to breathe for some time.  If y’all could pray for this to improve, we would sure appreciate it!  But we always try to remember that the trach isn’t the main problem – it’s the fact that she can’t swallow, gag and cough well that is the root problem – otherwise she wouldn’t need the trach.

Anna’s storming seems to have STOPPED!  PRAISE GOD!  She is much calmer now when awake, and seems to be doing better and better at coping with stimulation.  PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY for:  Sleep – she still does well to sleep more than 4 hours a night; her heart rate, which has improved in the last couple days, but is still 140+ while she’s awake; her eyes, which are continuing to move more, and just look like they are starting to be able to see things; and her stiffness, she’s still very stiff indeed, it really hasn’t changed.

Our wonderful OT Susan showed us a trick to get her to sleep – she would take Anna’s fists and rub them together very slowly.  If that didn’t work, she would take one fist and rub it against her nose and lips.  The last two days I’ve done that when Anna’s getting sleepy, and sure enough each time, within about a minute she’s been fast asleep!

I am very conscious that we have a ring-side seat on an amazing miracle.  ALL praise to God for ALL He is doing!!

God bless,

Richard

Praise the Lord for the answered prayer on the storming!!! God is good!
I am so glad that you've had the opportunity to all be together!

Wow! Three minutes from suffocation?! That sounds rather scary! I will definitely up my prayers for that gag, swallow, and cough reflex to improve! God is SOOOOOOOOOO ABLE to do MORE than we could ask or think.

I heard a song the other day by the Booth Brothers called IN HIS TIME. The chorus went:

"In His time, He will make everything right,
In His time, He'll show me His way.
In His time, He will deliver me,
And in this storm, He will be glorified,
In His time."
Amen and Amen!!
God Bless and Strengthen you!

Amen, and we are in the row right behind your ring-side seats, believing right along with you. Like dad said today, we have every right to the promise of healing and we have claimed that for Anna. Thank the Lord for another part of the 'wall of Jericho' falling down (storming) and we are believing for the final part of the wall to come tumbling down. It was so awesome to hear your "Amen" yesterday, Richard, and to know you and Lael were in our midst. We believe with all our hearts that soon Anna will be too. Lots of love and prayers!!!

We are so thankful to hear what the Lord has been doing for Anna, and know the work will be totally completed.

It was great to be with you all at the wedding yesterday and to have Lael and the kids in church with us today.

We so much look forward to all of you being there soon and keep on praying and believing and knowing it is already a finished work. We await the manifestation.

God bless you, and keep giving you strength and encouragement.

A ring-side seat, couldn't have said it any better...that's about how it is when God moves on the scene. Having experienced it myself first hand, I completely understand. Keep yourselves encouraged, God moves when you least expect it. I can't count the times He has stepped in...and even when you ask it, somehow this flesh of ours is still caught off guard. Yet He is still the same yesterday, today and forever, he changes not. His ways are not our ways, and far from finding out. You know Bro. Dale Smith preached on our mental attitude towards any promise of God... and he brought out that it is usually our mental attitudes that are holding us back. If we can but have the simple faith of a child, all things are possible. I also remember Bro. Greg Alfred preached one time how we limit God. He talked how we can accept healing for a head ache, or maybe a pain, but cancer, or conciousness...well that would be foolishness.... He said ever time we do that MENTALLY, we draw a line and said God can do this, but I don't know about that...we limit God... He challenged us to step across the line...believe for the unbelievable... so to speak... unbelievable to the world, but not to a child of faith... May God continue to be your portion. : ) If HE can heal a child with Autism is 2001, HE can bring a child to consciousness... HE IS THE SAME GOD... today and forever. No one can ever tell me different. When you go through something like this, your faith is changed forever... I believe it is through trials like these that our faith is made perfect. : ) May you draw your strength from the Lord.... God Bless you and your home with all matter of blessings. May HE be your portion this day.

Bro.Richard and Sis. Lael,
Praise God who spoke to the "Storm" for darling Anna. Thank you to all who prayed for Samuel as well. Since I requested prayer for Samuel he has had no more high fever at night. Prayer truely is the believers "Greatest Weapon".
It is so wonderful to see your family having some time together. I pray you are all home together soon. I pray that God restores the gag, cough, and swallow to full function so the trach can be removed. We will continue to pray specifically for this. Seeing Anna with her tiny, little, sweet face on video bonded her to my heart eternally. What a little darling. We appreciate your confession of faith and trust in God. Thank you for allowing us to be a small part of Anna's Miracle. May God move with all haste on your behalf in every way.

Love, In Christ

It was a blessing to talk with you today and learn about your family. I have emailed my church family and added you to our prayer chain. Your little Anna is a miracle and there are many prayer warriors praying for her. Continue to give God the glory for each and every day and allow him to use your family as a witness and testimony of his healing power.

In His Loving Serivce,
Sue

My precious Bro. & Sis. I ran across this and I thought it would be a Blessing to you. Bro. Robert

My Hand In God's Hand

Each morning when I wake, I say,
"I place my hand in God's today!"
I know He'll walk close by my side
my every wandering step to guide.

He leads me with the tenderest care
when paths are dark and I despair,
no need for me to understand
if I but hold fast to His Hand.

My hand in His! No surer way
to walk in safety through each day.
By His great bounty I am fed!
Warmed by His love, and comforted.

When at day's end I seek my rest
and realize how much I am blessed,
My thanks pour out to Him, and then
I place my hand in God's again.
