I have had the ‘flu this week so I haven’t been feeling much like writing… I still don’t feel too good, so if you would pray for me to get better, I would sure appreciate it!!
Anna has had a decent week, not much to report. I did however realize that I didn’t explain a couple things too well, so let me try to set that straight.
First, regarding the botox (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Botulinum_toxin). Because it’s so poisonous, the doc. can only inject a certain amount (100 units), and apparently it takes 20 in each muscle to kill the nerve endings and stop the muscle from working for a few months. So, as you’ll have worked out, that means she can only get five shots at any time. In your thighs there are four muscles on top (the quads!) and in your calves there are three that can pull to the side. So the doc. had to choose five out of those 14 total muscles to inject, and the rest are still working. So she chose the five that were most obviously working hard and pulling on Anna’s knees and ankles, but the remaining nine are still in action. The result is that she is obviously much less able to pull on those joints, but she still has plenty of muscle-power, so although there is a difference in her knees and ankles, it’s not nearly as dramatic as you might think or hope it would be. It’ll still be a long haul to get her right knee, especially, to bend at all.
Second, regarding the MRI of Anna’s brain in January. I guess I didn’t explain it so well. I wish I had pictures of it so I could post the “before” in August and the “after” in January, but I don’t, so I’ll have to go with a cauliflower analogy. So, imagine the MRI in August (four days after the accident) as that fresh cauliflower that you just bought for $5 from Wal-mart. Each flower is tightly wedged against the next flower - from the top side there’s no holes or gaps that you can even see through. But when you turn it over and pull away the leaves, you can see there are some gaps inside, between the stems. Bring on the cheese sauce!
Now, imagine your husband was very kindly helping you to put away those groceries from Wal-mart, and he brilliantly decided to put the cauli. in the fridge in the garage, because the fridge in the kitchen is full. You, not seeing the cauli in the fridge, promptly forget about it. A month goes by. You go out to the garage to get a jug of pomegranate juice from the fridge, and whoa! there’s that cauli! You’d forgotten all about it! Now, it’s still reasonably white, but it’s dried up, so each of the flowers has shrunk, and pulled away from each other a bit, so there are some gaps between the flowers now. And when you turn it over, the gaps between the stems have gotten a bit bigger too, as the stems have shriveled a bit.
The analogy is of course imperfect, but you get the idea. The fluid spaces in her brain were significantly larger, and there was fluid between the “flowers” where normally there’d be very little.
My Mom and Dad arrive from England on Monday! We are very excited to see them! Mom’s bringing chocolate and Earl Grey Tea! Hurrah!
Thank you Jesus for healing Annie B!
God bless,
Richard |

The analogy is pretty good as even I can understand it and yes, mine has been in the garage fridge in the past. I do hope the Botox works well. I've thought about it myself sometimes - only kidding - I'm busy growing old disgracefully. We have a preacher from Albany, NY tomorrow so I am looking forward to seeing a lot of healing. I shall request prayer for Anna. Delighted to hear your Mum is coming over - Earl Grey, a slice of lemon and a Rich Tea biscuit - just the ticket!
