| Anna Grylls update Saturday 8am

It was a looooooooong day yesterday… Anna’s G-tube came out Thursday night about 9pm. We put a piece of the tube into the hole in her stomach to keep it open. I had to call Lael and get her out of church - it was a little too reminiscent of the last time I dragged her out of church on July 29th… We headed down to Columbus Children’s Hospital, and our wonderful nurse Mindie came with us. We got to Columbus around midnight ish, and they then spent about 4 hours trying to find a G-tube to replace it with. Eventually the doctor himself went down to the storage to get what they had ordered about two hours previous. It was quite frustrating, as there wasn’t a single GI doctor in the house, and the ER doctors were guessing. When I requested a GI consult, all that happened was that the GI doc came when she got in in the morning. So when that G-tube eventually arrived, it was us who had to point out that it didn’t have the required medicine port... Eventually about 6am we got a good G-tube put in, and then hung around until 8am for the interventional radiologist to arrive so we could get the J-tube threaded through.
We eventually made it home at 11:30am Friday morning.
But God in his usual style turned what could have just been a miserable night into a blessing. Mindie helped make sure Anna got a totally awesome new G-tube (a Mic-Key for you medical types), that should be much harder to pull out, and is MUCH easier to give meds into. We also got a couple doses of albuterol, and a prescription for some more, which REALLY helped Anna’s breathing.
We thank God for Liz, who stayed at the house with the kids, and for Mindie, who came with us to Columbus, and ended up sleeping in Emmy's room when we got back so she could be back on the job last night having had at least a few hours sleep...
And then we were privileged to attend a tremendous fall program at the children’s school. There was a wonderful atmosphere, and the children all did an awesome job!
Anna still has a cold. They took another culture from her trach at the hospital. She’s very snotty this morning. PLEASE PRAY she would be completely healed!
God bless,
Richard

I'm so sorry you have had such a frustrating time. It makes our own problems seem so trivial. Thank God you seem to get the energy to survive it all. I pray that you will all have a rest this weekend, that Anna will show improvement and that church tomorrow will be a wonderfully uplifting experience for you all. God bless, Elaine
