 Anna Grylls update Monday 5am
We’re having an interesting night tonight. Our nurse couldn’t make it, because of the snow that’s fallen here in the last day. At 11pm the power went out. We called up the power company, and the lady informed us that the power for sure wouldn’t be back on until Tuesday. It was a stark reminder of how tenuous Anna’s life still is – without electricity to charge her suction machine, we’re in considerable difficulty within an hour or two. Not to mention the feeding machine, oxygen generator and humidifier… We were busy working out plan B, and starting the fire, when the power came back on around midnight, and has stayed on since.

So, after that, sitting here at 4am I get quite reflective on the situation. Since we’re still inside the whale’s belly, I took a moment (just a moment, don’t worry) to look around. I saw that I still can’t write a paragraph without getting up to suction her trach; she still doesn’t make any conscious responses to us – only reflexive responses; she barely moves, just tenses up; she stares into space, sometimes moving her eyes, often not, and her pupils are often only somewhat responsive; her left femur is the size of a toilet roll; her right knee hardly bends, and is usually bent backwards; her chest bone sticks out in an amazing way; she breathes through a hole in her neck and is fed through a hole in her belly; she takes valium every 6 hours to chill her out; she appears to have seizures sometimes (we’re going for another EEG and to see the neurologist today, if the roads are OK); what else?

But of course the whale’s belly is yuck, so I turned my attention to the promises of God, which are much more pleasant to observe. Tonight I am particularly enjoying the promises that He’ll never leave us or forsake us, and that He’ll never give us more than we can bear - which probably explains why the power came back on so quickly :)

Thank you Jesus for healing Annie B!

God bless,

Richard

I Peter 1:3-7
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance uncorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are KEPT by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ...

I find comfort in believing that the Lord is KEEPING you, Lael, your family and especially Anna.
I continue to pray for your family.
Susan
Psalm 34:17
Many are the afflictions of the righteous and the Lord shall deliver him out of them all.

The Whales Belly is a scary place - vast in it's size, but God's love and mercy is greater in size than anything we could ever imagine.
I'll be praying for the Whale Belly to shrink and totally disappear as God works His miracles on little Anna.

That probably explains why for some reason you guys were on my heart last night. I just felt like maybe you were a bit overwhelmed and I'm sure God allowed me to feel that and probably others so that we would say an extra prayer. Wow! the whales belly does look rather bleak but God's promises are much greater so
"Don't Give up the Fight"
"Standing on the Promises"
"God Will Make This Trial a Blessing"
"Stand Still and Let God Move"
"Only Believe, All Things Are Possible"
"He's a Miracle Working God"
"He Does Miracles So Great"
Hang in there!!!!! Love and Prayers

I think it must be tempting to look inside the whale's belly every now and especially at that time between the light and the half light. The thing to remember is the overwhelming light outside which promises so much to all who believe. You have such enormous faith and God rewards the faithful. Yes, Anna's life does hang on a spider like thread but God is in charge. Bless you all.

bro richard checking in

I SAMUEL 17:26
26 And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who [is] this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?

I SAMUEL 17:32
32 And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.

I SAMUEL 17:33
33 And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou [art but] a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.

I SAMUEL 17:34
34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:

I SAMUEL 17:35
35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered [it] out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught [him] by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.

I SAMUEL 17:36
36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.

I SAMUEL 17:37
37 David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.

I SAMUEL 17:38
38 And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail.

I SAMUEL 17:39
39 And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved [it]. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved [them]. And David put them off him.

I SAMUEL 17:40
40 ¶ And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling [was] in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.

I SAMUEL 17:41
41 And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield [went] before him.

I SAMUEL 17:42
42 And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was [but] a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.

I SAMUEL 17:45
45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.

I SAMUEL 17:46
46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

I SAMUEL 17:47
47 And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle [is] the LORD'S, and he will give you into our hands.

I SAMUEL 17:48
48 ¶ And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.

I SAMUEL 17:49
49 And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang [it], and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.

I SAMUEL 17:50
50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but [there was] no sword in the hand of David.

I SAMUEL 17:51
51 Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.

Even miracles-in-progress can come to seem common place after a while. Sometimes taking a look around in the whale's belly allows you to fully appreciate the vastness of the miracle once more. I hope in all the bustle you have found some time for Christmas cheer. Blessings and prayers.

Dear Bro.Richard and Sis.Lael,
I am so sorry we didn't get to meet in Seattle. Bro.Gary flew home the day you flew out of Seattle. I pray we will meet one day soon.
Bro.Richard, what a night on the Ash heap. My heart is burdened even now as I read your posting, yet I praise God who turned the power on so promplty. I wouldn't thought of that as I'm sure the medical team didn't either. In the hospital they have back up generators for such life threatening times.
Your right, looking at Anna, it could make the heart of any parent sob and tremble in fear. Fear that Anna is beyond even the hope of a miracle. Yet, we must only confess His Word and deny all else that to this flesh is so real. This is so hard when we are lying neck deep in whale vomit on the bottom of the ocean floor. When I look at my condition with my heart and Samuels brain injury I sometimes lose my courage in a brief moment of fear. Fear that I will die before I raise my little ones. Fear that Samuel will never catch up developmentally or physically..... Then God who is always faithful will send his Word to remind me to look ONLY at HIS Word. Bro.Tim Dodd preached for us Sunday night. It was the most powerful semon on Divine Healing I have ever heard by a minister in this message. It was a great victory for me!!!!! One thing God reminded me of as he often has.... "Faith comes by HEARING the WORD." May I please encourage you dear ones to feed day and night on the Word. It is God. It is our only true place to "Let OFF The Pressure". It is our refuge in every storm. It is the Source of our Faith. Our only true light in the dark of the storm. When God hung on the cruel cross and cried "It is finished" he looked ahead and saw your situation and Anna's need for healing. That dual covenant applies to your Anna. After all, she is the "Heritage" of the Lord. May God strengthen you all in a very tender and special way tonight. You are in our sincere prayers and we are honored to know your family.

Love, In Christ our Healer,
Sis.Leisa St.John
