A few more thank-you's and other thoughts
A few thank-you’s…

Many thanks to everyone who traveled so far to be at the funeral. My Mom and Dad, and Ju and Cindy, from England; Jay, Chris and Reuben from Arizona; Sy and Bridget from Washington; Lael’s Dad and Susie from Arkansas; not to mention all the Michiganders, Hoosiers and Ohioans!  It meant so much to us to see you all there. The volume during the last verse of “Oh the Glory of your Presence” was just tremendous…

Many thanks to Bible Believers Church, to Bro. Craig and everyone who helped with the sound etc.  To Bible Believers School, and everyone who helped set up and brought food. It took us a week to finish the left-overs!  Thank you all.

Many thanks to Siferd-Orians funeral home, who gave all their services without charge.

To Bro. Ray, Brian, Ben, Lucille, Levi and Josh, and Bro. Franco and Sis. Kelli, thank you all.

To everyone who sent flowers, cards, gifts, and blankets, thank-you. The blankets are particularly handy right now, it was -16F (-27C) here at 8am this morning…

Particular thanks to the Israeli Ericksons, who sent an oak tree. It just happens to be my favorite…

And to everyone who contributed to Anna’s memory chest, thank-you, it’s beautiful. Here’s a picture. Thanks Brother Mast!  We are filling it up with things to remember Anna by.

When Anna was here with us she brought so much clarity and reality to life. So many problems and cares of the world disappeared because they didn’t hold a candle to what she was dealing with. We cherish every moment we had together.

But life goes on. I am sitting writing this in the exact spot where Anna slept. We are planning a trip this summer. Basketball games.  Snow.  Meetings.  So many things seem less important.

Emily saw Anna in her classroom one day at school last week. She was a young woman, and she walked around, her eyes worked, and she didn’t have a scar from her trach. I told Emily to cherish that memory in her heart forever.

Thank you Jesus for healing Annie B!

God bless,

Richard

It must be so hard on the older two and I'm glad Emily saw what she did. You're right, life does go on and with it the trivial ups and downs of life. They are never important when we are dealing with the important things of life but they're there all the same. I hope you are planning a really good holiday this year which will be something for the kids to look forward to and a time of relaxation for both of you. I thought of you this morning after prayer breakfast as I remembered the lovely photo of you and the kids called 'Saturday morning' when Anna was still a little baby. They won't be the same, but they're family times and you have a very special family. God bless

PRESUMING_ PHOENIX.AZ WEDNESDAY_ 62-0117
E-68 My old mother that just passed away a few months ago, when she was laying there on the bed, said, "Billy, I'm going."
I said, "Mother, don't talk like that. "
She said, "I'm going." Said, "I want to go see my other children. I want to see dad. I'm going." And she looked over...
I was standing there, her oldest; here stood my sister, the youngest. And there were ten of us children: nine boys and a girl.
She looked, and she said, "My first and my last." She said, "Dolores, you're my only girl. You've been good to me." Said, "You've come and helped me do my washing. You've--you've loved me and taken care of me. "
She said, "Billy, you've seen that I never went hungry. You've paid my bills. You've give me a place to live in." And said, "You've been my spiritual guide. "

PRESUMING_ PHOENIX.AZ WEDNESDAY_ 62-0117
E-71 And when the poor old thing couldn't even speak no more, I said, "Mother..." I wanted to commit her soul to God. I did my father, and I wanted to commit her soul to God. And she was laying there, she could no more speak.
I said, "Mother, I'm standing here yet. You know it? If you can, bat your eyes." And she'd bat her eyes. I said, "I want to ask you something now, mother. You're just a few minutes away now." I said, "I want to stand here to see Jesus come get your soul." And I said, "Then I'll commit it to Him."
I said, "I want to ask you something, mother." I said... Now, I baptized my mother about thirty years ago, and she was filled with the Holy Ghost. And--and she was a Christian, a real saint of God.
And I said, "Mother, does Jesus mean right here when you've got maybe five more minutes to live--does Jesus just as sweet to you as He was the day you received the Holy Ghost?" I said, "Mother, I want to say this for my own, so I can tell others. Is He just as sweet right now? You're my mother. You wouldn't tell me anything wrong. I want to know how you feel right now. Is He just as sweet as He was when you received Him back yonder thirty years ago? If it is, you can't speak, but bat your eyes real fast." And she'd bat her eyes real fast; the tears run down her cheeks. Oh, brother.
Yes, that's it. You're not presuming then. You know where you stand. That's right. Oh, don't presume about it. There's so many different ways. Just don't presume. But God has give an a-vindication of His promise. See? We don't have to presume about it. God's vindicated it.

MEANEST.MAN.I.KNOW_ PHOENIX.AZ SATURDAY_ 62-0127
E-11 And I seen a renowned woman walk in, though she was dressed old fashion, with a skirt down, and the little things around the neck, and big hat turned over, and lots of hair done up in the back. So I seen her walking up through the building and--through the place. This wasn't a building; it was outside. And there was a box on each side, like where the celebrity set. And she was in this box in a few moments, bowing to the people. And I got in the pulpit and was going to preach. And the lady turned to bow her head to me, like this. When she had her head down, I bowed mine. I was in five feet of her. And when she raised up, it was mother, beautiful, young.
Just then, like over here, a thunder and a lightning and a roar, and a Voice said, "Do not worry about her no more. She's like she was in 1906." I went away and looked in the old family Bible to find out what happened in 1906, and that was the year that she was a bride to my father. So today she is part of the Bride of the Lord Jesus, of which I am a member. Someday I will see her again.

Mr. Grylls,
My name is Jack Miller. I am the officer that responded to your home the day of Anna's tragic incident.

I stopped by and met Mrs. Grylls after Anna came home from the hospital and was blessed to be able to see and talk to Anna. Mrs. Grylls told me of the blog site and that I could be kept up to date through the posts. Please thank her again for me.
I have been reading on and off since then. But a few days ago, I drove by the house and felt that I needed an update. It is with much sorrow that I read the news of Anna's passing.

I could not count the number of calls that I have been on in the past twelve years of my career. But the day I met your family stands out as among them all. I think back and wonder if my car had been faster, if my techniques were more effective, etc. I don't know how to tell you how much the whole thing has affected me but I can tell you that after I struggle, I get stronger. This experience has changed me for the better and I promise to use what I have learned. To use it serving the Lord by serving the public.

Please feel free to contact me at the police department if you need anything at all. I apologize for not being at the funeral but you and Anna will be in my prayers.

What an amazing comment - I'm so moved by it and I sincerely hope ptmiller knows to this day that he did the best he could. Just shows how Anna and your family affected so many people. E.

Richard:
Your strength and courage and positive attitude despite the difficult hardships you've encoutered over the last year inspires me. Anna is extremely lucky to have wonderful loving parents that stuck by her side through thick and thin such as yourself and I'm sure she's looking over you smiling and thankful for all that you've done. Your special little angel is with you always.

Jack:
It is hardworking and dedicated police officers like yourself that make a difference in the world. Your courage and perseverence inspires me. This world is a better place because of you. I can only imagine the number of situations in life that have been improved from your actions. Although I'm sure you don't seek recognition for your actions that day, you definitely do deserve it. Thank you for your continued dedication to serve the public.
