Next we hit Salzburg. We arrived mid-day, and went hunting for a hotel right away. We managed to get a room on the 8th floor of Hotel Europa, and went for a quick meal. Cheers!

The room afforded us a view of Hohensalzburg Castle that was second to none. As the sun began to set, I snapped this nice photo.

The next day, we went for a walk into the old city, where Hohensalzburg Castle is located. A million (ok, not a million, but MANY) shops at every turn, and we were surprised beyond belief to see we had travelled all the way to Austria to find Yukon gold.

We continued our way into the city, and entered the Cathedral. I shot this straight-up picture of the dove which is at the very top of one of the domes within the Cathedral.

Once in the old city, we went on a rail car ride up to Hohensalzburg Castle. The view of Salzburg was great, and Renata shot this awesome photo of a newer government building. (Circa 1700...new by European standards lol)

After a long day walking, we headed back to our room and made plans for our escape the very same day. We decided to give Verona the cold shoulder, and bravely continue on to Rome on the night train for a 9.5 hour ride.
Cheers,
