I have been dating my boyfriend for six years, and I'm 20 years old. Sure, every not and then I think that making wedding arrangements would be fun, and I know that he is the one for me, but the thing is... I think we're too young. The problem with marrying so young is A) financial issues B) young love is not always true love C) resentment. The #1 reason I dont stress the idea of marriage with my boyfriend is because one day when we're 40 years old, I don't want to have to worry when he comes home late from work. I want to make sure that he gets all of his fun and freedom while we are young and single. I dont ever want him to look at me and resent me for pressuring or letting us get married too young. With the divorce rate as high as it is, I don't even know if couples should get married until they're 30!! Given, I will probably be married in about 4 years. I don't think anyone should ever rush into marriage. It's such a big deal. Young love is cute, but it doesn't look so cute when theyre arguing about whose nightstand it is in a huge divorce. I would be there for them, but I would stress the importance of them actually knowing what theyre getting themselves into.
