 Ish vs. Like
I've realized how much being child-like will help me in life, notice I said like and not -ish. Being childish isn't an asset, being child-like is.
If you have ever watched a child sing or dance or play they put their whole being into it. If a child is coloring they won't move until they're satisfied (unless lured away by a cookie or something like that). I realized that I would love to have these qualities embedded in me.
So I started to incorperate them into my life. I was jogging the other day and I really tried, to see the beauty in the world. I mean, here I was freezing cold, out of breath, and had a cramp in my side, stopped in the street to look at a tree. Now this was of course no ordinary tree, but a beautiful birch in someone's front yard. It made me think back to kindergarten, I went to a catholic school, the classrooms were small, no air conditioning, there were four floors but only two of them had bathrooms. We were allowed to play on the grass when it was dry and we were young and within the boundries of a large rectangle that was painted in the parking lot when we were older. On the grassy part, behind a shed that belonged to the church that was associated with the school, there was one huge birch tree. The smooth, white sheets of bark made the leaves seem so much brighter than all the other trees I had seen, and below this tree in the scantly mulched mud, was where the best worms were, the fat ones that wiggled and were hard to hold on to. During recess we would dig for worms and compare them, but we were careful not to get our uniforms dirty...that is until we turned into girls that thought worms were gross :-P.  of course while ogling  this new discovery I couldn't help but wonder if all birch trees grow big worms..
to be able to look at this tree in admiration and recognize it's beauty, even though I have seen one or two before was bringing "like" into my everyday life. Want to know more? check this out: www.slowdownfast.com/blog/happiness-and-fulfillment-how-to-b e-childlike-not-childish/
