I had a hearing nightmare last night.  I was at the airport, (don't remember where I was going) and I left my purse at one of the seating areas.  So I went back, but I already had a ticket and so I couldn't go all the way back without talking to security.  So I went up to the security desk and started explaining the situation.  The security officer said I obviously needed a sign language interpreter, he couldn't understand anything I was saying, and that oh my gosh, was I ever going to finish a sentence?  Then a sign language interpreter showed up, and instead of interpreting she started talking about how incredibly worse my speech has gotten over the years and I should just stop talking and only sign, that people were just being nice and afraid to tell me.  Furious, I walked away, walked past security and into the part of the airport I wasn't supposed to go, grabbed my purse, went back to the gate, and went up to the interpreter and security gaurd and said "F-CK YOU, can you understand me NOW?" and walked on the plane.
  At least it ended on an empowering note.
