Democracy is not about individuals, or a community, telling individuals how to live their
individual lives. Democracy is not about one individual -- an absolute monarch, for example
-- telling every other individual how they are to live their own lives. Democracy is not about
one group/class, telling every other group/class how they are to live their own private lives.
Democracy is only about, democracy is all about, an organic/organized community
collectively deciding how to live its collective life together, in peace and in prosperity. A
democracy is an organic community, because a democracy is a natural, living community;
it is a unified and integral community. A democracy is also an organized community,
because a democracy is a coordinated and established community; it is both a conscious
and a constitutional community. A democracy is a creation of the people; it is intended to
serve the people. A democracy is initiated by the people; it is instituted for the people.
In the name of democracy, modern plutocratic-capitalism has engaged in political fascism,
fanaticism, malice, bigotry, prejudice, narrow-mindedness, and self-righteousness. But,
an authentic democracy is liberal, tolerant, open-minded, permissive, receptive, inclusive,
sociable, respectful, deliberative, and so forth.
"Learning teaches how to carry things in suspense without prejudice till you resolve."
-- Francis Bacon
