 Thoughts
Some believe that the government of the United States of America is a truly democratic
form of government.  But, the United States is not a truly democratic form of government.

If a nation needs to defend itself from a real enemy, then a draft would be necessary.

In a true democracy, able individuals would not be able to escape or avoid military
service because of a parent's wealth, cronies, and/or influence.  The democratic
principle of equality and justice means that every person must do his or her duty
for the common good of their community.

The politicians learned from the Vietnam War not to have a draft, especially if and
when the war is controversial and/or unjustified.  Or did they learn?

"Beyond question the legend of the communism of the Church at Jerusalem served
to give continuity to the communist tradition."
-- Alexander Gray, The Socialist Tradition: Moses to Lenin, 1946

"Profits are springing, like weeds, from the fields of the dead."
-- Rosa Luxemberg

There is exploitative slavery in the system of taxation. There are those pro-capitalist
economists and politicians who advocate no tax on income from capital, but only a tax
on wage-income.

"I've never believed that just cutting taxes alone will cause output and employment
to expand."
-- David Allen Stockman

"Enclosure was the beginning of property."
