In capitalism, the products of productive labor, including capital, belong to the class
of capital proprietors.
In socialism/communism, the products of productive labor, including the material means
of production, belong to the producers, belong to all the people. Such an arrangement
could entail producers owning a specific manufactory, or a specific agronomic site. Or it
could entail a community owning its local farms and factories. Industry can be owned by
an association of producers, or by a community. I have no strong opinion either way; but
I do tend to imagine a cooperative form either of associated or syndicalist ownership. A
more localized form of parochial command and control of provincial industry seems best.
