 Thoughts
It seems that the only way to achieve full employment in a capitalist regimen is to engineer
a lot of underemployment, or a lot of part-time employment.

Past human failures do not determine the limits of humanity’s future possibilities.
Present human negligence and disappointment do not dictate the upper limits of
humanity’s prospects and potential.

Conscience is to the individual what consensus is to the community.

History is contingency. Historical events are usually accidental, fortuitous events.
There are pathological junctures in history. What is accidental is unforeseeable.
What is fortuitous is unpredictable.

Politics is articulation. Politics is eloquence and persuasion. Politics is expression.
Politics is negotiation.  Politics is intelligible communication. Politics is as much
about the citizen’s voice as it is about the citizen’s vote.

All identity is relational. Individuality is always associational. Every singularity is connected.

Meaning is a social product. We can talk about the social production of things, of ideas,
of values, of morals, of manners, of languages, of knowledge, etc. We can also talk
about the social production of meanings.

The working class must oppose the reactionary course of social evolution; it must
resist the radical right’s desired path of political development. The working class
must also influence the factual course of economic expansion; it must change the
actual path of psychological, philosophical and ethical progress.

The labor process is the place where capital exerts its domination. The operation
and organization of productive labor is the location, the venue, the site where capital
exercises its power, its control, its rule, and its authority.

According to John Locke, knowledge is “experience”. According to Roger Bacon,
knowledge is “reasoning and experience”. According to Thomas Hobbes, knowledge
is “remembrance”.

What is knowledge? It is these and more. Knowledge is virtue.
