 Thoughts
Perhaps all of us hallucinate. Perhaps life is but a dream, a trip. Some of us can ponder over
such a possibility. Some of us can puzzle over the question of what is really real. Some of us
can cogitate on the questions of solipsism, and of scepticism.  Our English word hallucinate
comes from the Latin word hallucinari, which means "to wander in mind".  The Latin word
comes from the Greek word aluein, which means "to wander".

According to E. D. Martin: "It is easier to believe than to doubt." Some of us prefer the easy way.

"Doubting everything or believing everything are two equally convenient solutions, both of which
save us from thinking."
-- Henri Poincaré

A solitary direct producer ought to possess the full value of their solitary labor, and associated
direct producers ought to collectively possess the full value of their integrated labor. This principle
is what any communist can fully agree with.

In a communist arrangement, a person who is able to produce will freely produce, especially if
undertaking productive labor will itself guarantee that the worker has every right to the goods they
produce. This right includes a right to exchange labor for labor, or goods for goods. This right is
about equivalence, fairness and justice.

If I produce as I am both willing and able, then the value of my labor is that I provide for myself
whatever goods and services I need. Able and rational people will work for what they need; not
for what they do not need, and not for more than they need.

"Work spares us from three great evils: boredom, vice and need."
-- François-Marie Arouet (Voltaire)

As long as human beings are alive and well, the needs of human beings can never be infinite,
and the abilities of human beings will never be zero.

"Politically I believe in democracy, but culturally, not at all. Whenever a cultural matter rolls up
a majority, I know it is wrong."
-- John Sloan

"Of all the preposterous assumptions of humanity over humanity, nothing exceeds most of
the criticisms made on the habits of the poor by the well-housed, well-warmed, and well-fed."
-- Herman Melville

"Poverty has, in large cities, very different appearances: it is often concealed in splendor, and
often in extravagances."
-- Samuel Johnson

"Power always has to be kept in check; power exercised in secret, especially under the cloak
of national security, is doubly dangerous."
-- William Proxmire

"The measure of man is what he does with power."
-- Pittacus

"The love of liberty is the love of others; the love of power is the love of ourselves."
-- William Hazlitt

"The true revolutionary is guided by a great feeling of love."
-- Ernesto Guevara ("Che" Guevara)

"When I was a boy I was told that anybody could become President; I'm beginning to believe it."
-- Clarence Seward Darrow

A socialist system cannot be Ron Allen's system!

There is no monopoly of force if and when a social democracy governs itself, rather than being
state governed. Democracy does not concentrate power in a state; democracy distributes power
equally throughout a society.

"Revolution is the festival of the oppressed."
-- Germaine Greer

Reason can doubt reality; reason can question the facts.

Reason is -- in the words of Franz Schubert -- "the analysis of belief". What we like to call
reason is all too often nothing more than our passion and our prejudice.

"Science is for those who learn; poetry, for those who know."
-- Joseph Roux

If life is a trip, if reality is a dream, then what you are experiencing is not an impression from
outside, but an expression from inside. What you are experiencing may be you hallucinating
that -- or what -- you are experiencing.

Perhaps, I am writing these words; but, you may be writing what you are reading.  Who knows?

All too often we rely on statistics as a substitute for the truth.

The only constant in human nature is human freedom.

Traffic laws are intended to be a revenue stream.

If an oil company will pay $10,000 to any scientist who will cast doubt on the United Nation's
global warming report, then that scientist who is willing to take the money is prostituting science,
and is not doing science.

"Night is the mother of thoughts."
-- John Florio
