hi rafa... yes, i always feel blessed when friends call me, when they come by for a visit, and just knowing that i have someone that i can call and talk to about anything. i do a lot of volunteer work on a variety of causes, some of which take me to the homes for the elderly, some take me to group homes where i work with the mentally retarded. i see almost on a daily basis the looks in the eyes and the faces of those i visit, realizing that the only people the see other than me are the caretakers, their doctors, nurses, caregivers, and the other residents in their respective homes. they generally have no family (or their family simply doesn't care enough to visit them) and really no friends to speak of. and those that do visit (especially the elderly) treat the old folks like children, or with contempt, or just plain lack of love and concern. so i do value friendship and totally appreciate and respect a person for taking the time to think of me. rafa, you are very articulate and have a wonderful way with your words and thoughts, and i'm looking forward to reading more of your blogs. stone

I'm glad you have such nice friends :) I guess you can talk about anything with them and do things you wouldn't do with anyone else.
Seems pretty cool, but I can't tell you any story, because I haven't got any friends at all. I mean, I have colleagues in school and I talk with them, but I certainly don't consider them as close friends. I can't tell them secrets and I can't do anything with them. I always have to be careful with what I say otherwise I'll be judged by everything! It's not easy and I hate not having any good friends =/
I just keep wondering how to find people who have the same interests as me since that's the main problem...

i can't believe you don't have any friends,,i think having a good friends is so great. i think you should give it a try. it's not easy to find true friends, but if you really show your willingness, i'm sure there are plenty of friends who'd love to be your friends.

in my opinion, finding true friends need a long way to go. true friendship needs time to grow. friendship doesn't always good and shine. sometimes we fight. sometimes we make mistakes. sometimes our friends make mistakes. i think when we've come to problem, it also a way to maintain our friendship to next level. from just friends to close friends. it give us the opportunity to keep our friendship strong, or even makes it stronger than before. how to gain our friend's trust, how to reconsider our mistakes, how to handle the problem wisely, how to increase our courage to say sorry (if we do make mistakes). it also help us to realize how our friends mean to us. some say "we'll never know how much your friends means if we never lose them". believe me, been there, done that.

OH, one thing, good friends don't always have to have the same interest with us. even though it would be nice if they do. but from our differences, we might found smthing that broaden our vision. about many things. and also friendship itself. differences make our world more colorful. :)

you know, one of my besties, eve? we've been friends since primary school until now. we fight, cry, and laugh together. we've been through so many things, good and bad. we have that time, when we don't speak to each other. when we communicate with letter because we don't want to speak (it's lame, i know). but that fact didn't change us from being a good friend to each other. you'll have to try it too,,it really nice to have friends :)
