Have you ever told you child that they could be whatever they wanted in life? My mother asked my little cousin what he wanted to be and he said he wanted to be Santa Clause. Now. Technically you lied to your kid. How can they be something in life that doesn't even exist? Or how about instilling the thought that every year, if your child is a good boy or girl, Santa will come visit them? Every year you pretend that the gifts that are addressed by this fictional stranger are from him and then, one day when YOU decide that the child is too old, you rip his dreams and hopes away by telling him that Santa is not real. {this goes for the tooth fairy, and the easter bunny} You watch your child bawl their eyes out. You just act like nothing is wrong without any remorse. When the child is in their teens or pre-teens you tell them that it is wrong to lie. But you wonder why they still do it. Its because you lied for nine years about a character they put trust into, and then just ripped it all away. What's the point? Just don't tell your kids that Santa is there in the first place. Plus, thats not setting a good example. Your teaching your kids that its ok to get on someones house with rabid cracked-out deer and breaking and entering your house through the chimney. If you still want to keep the tradition, just tell them there is a fable of a man named Santa. Thanks for listening.
