 Puck's week

It was an extraordinarily busy week, evidenced by the fact that some days I was unable to get to my beloved thoughts village. The twins got to their first fireworks event (5 years old) , last year rain and near gale force winds put a lock down on events, when they were three they were still on powerful medication and undergoing operations from their premature birth, although Mrs G and I parked up near a display, but  they were fast a sleep and before then until near two they had to have oxygen. Whilst we did have little oxygen tanks we felt it might not be wise to take them to a fireworks event.

The start was delayed as people were still arriving, and as we were early we got a place right on the safety net. Munching Hotdogs and drinking hot chocolate ( much of which I had to hold – quite a juggling act ), the cold started to attack us from the ground up as through Xylem in plants and a constant but chill winds at our face.

The twins were exited and restless, but the delay almost meant an early departure as the twins had no idea what to expect and wanted to go home. Then the bonfire was lit and illuminated the night sky, it was clear crisp but cold.

Then the fireworks started, as I looked down at the twins and saw mesmerised looks, as lights of all colours sparkled and exploded, the noise, the smell of sulphur, it transported me back to when my parents used to take me to the local church fireworks event.

I remember not the toys or money or sweets I received , but memories like that , of feeling safe with family , as I experienced those early firework displays that stick in the memory, hot soup and a hug from father as an unexpected loud bang frightened the four year old puck.

I was so glad to be there and witness my own children, the display was fantastic, they stopped for a break, and we told the twins that was the end , and carefully held their hands all the way back to Mrs G ‘s people carrier.

Father is , well father is ill, and that is also a hard pill to swallow and hard on mother , though I have arranged an extra daily help.

The twins leave for the wedding soon, and the start of that particular depression is starting.

The house needs some work done in spring, so I need to work that into my cash flow, and as another Autumn quickly gives way to winter the puck wishes you all well.

Now you Know

I am glad they enjoyed the event. Even still at 32 I greatly enjoy the 4th of July when we have huge fire work events. Such a majestic sight it is.

Puck, you and your family continue to be in my prayers, peace for all of you. Remember things come in seasons and seasons can go fairly quickly. Dont dwell on the fact that they will be leaving for a while, concentrate on the wonder that will be when they return. Plan something special for that moment.

My love to you.

Have to say, I'm not keen on the babies travelling long haul at a time like this with so much flu, but I'm sure Mrs G has looked into this. Fireworks were magic when I was a child but I'm afraid my family grew up in 'the troubles' over here. Their father, a chemist, always managed to get some fireworks from Manchester so they always had their own private display, joined by most of the neighbours I have to say - happy times.

Puck...Bless you for sharing these priceless moments with us. Children do make the world go around. Bless you also for the pain you are enduring as you watch the strength of your father wane. I have been exactly where you are, and it is indeed painful. I think the hardest part is realizing that you now have to be the strong one and help him go in peace. Here are some (((hugs))) for you. All will be well.

peace :) shemelts

Baby girl's kindergarden teacher is from England and she told her it was firework's day last week. So I had to explain to her we don't live in England. I'm glad that they finally got to enjoy it this year. I'm sorry to hear about your father, your family is in my thoughts.

Take Care

Fireworks were always scary for my kids until they were about 5-6 years old. Now they love them. Glad to hear it was more than a good time, it was a milestone.
