ASK ME
Written By Katrina Robinson
Ask me how I got welfare rolls and stayed off.
I stood firm believing God could pull it off.
Time after time, I knocked on doors
You’ll never make it out..my surroundings roared
But through sacrifice and a lot of hard work.
NOT A MAN baby girl…I bought this shirt.
ASK ME
Ask me how I crawled out of a man’s arms
That held me so tight,
A relationship full of lies and false hopes, that wasn’t
Right
I gave everything to him, expecting the same in return,
But he broke my spirit, OH GOD! I had to learn
MY SISTERS, I got some discipline and kept what
Was sacred,
Now men respect me more, and I don’t have to be
Naked
ASK ME
Ask me about the house that I bought and the 3 cars
I now own,
They’re all in MY NAME, and 2 of them don’t have a
Loan
I finished my education, and got my degree,
Now my daughter..she wants to be like me
ASK ME
Ask me about the book I wrote, Poverty to Potential
Teaching other women those things essential
A mighty big task for someone who got food stamps,
Now the enemy is jealous, I got the last laugh
Be encouraged my sister, This is our breakthrough hour,
Why you Say?
CAUSE WE GOT GIRL POWER!!!
Keep praying to God, He’s still a strong tower.
Keep holding on and giving him the glory,
Then tell another sister, ASK ME,
I GOT A STORY.
