In today's society we, Christians, have stood by and allowed our rights to be taken away. What do I mean by this? Well, it seems to be OK to be any religion in the United States unless that religion happens to be Christianity then you are limited to certain freedoms. As a Christian, I am not allowed to pray in a public school, as a Christian I have been stripped the right to have an opinion on anything without being called a conservative, hypocrite or bigot. I have to say, if I were any other religion I could do almost anything I wanted as long as it didn't break the law, but as a Christian I am not permitted to do things within my religion that cause no harm onto anyone else BY LAW! How bizarre is that!
What harm does a nativity set cause someone? Does the light up version of this effect your ability to live? No, as a matter of fact it doesn't even effect your light bill! It only affects the one who has it plugged in! So why was it allowed to go so far in the New York Supreme Court system? If you are going to do that then you will have to force all other religions to take down their symbols as well....isn't that only fair...but wait if you do that you will have all sorts of people screaming that their rights are being violated! That is what I am doing...the problem...not enough Christians are joining me!
I am sick and tired of people trying to change our history, I am sick and tired of feeling like I should be ashamed of my religion while others can hold their head high without thought or pain, I am tired of feeling like I have to tip toe around the issue of my faith because YOU might be uncomfortable about it....NO MORE WILL I STAND FOR THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOR!! I am going to proclaim Christ from all areas of my life, no place isn't filled and I am not afraid! I used to be afraid of going to jail even if it were something I believed in, but I look at my examples (Jesus and Paul) in the Bible they went to prison for what they believed. I can't handle this any longer....my only question is who will join me and say enough is enough! I deserve the same freedom of religion and speech as anyone else...isn't this America the land and home of the free?
Why is it that when teens want to talk to their teacher or friend about religion it isn't OK? How can someone force you to keep quite even if you aren't "forcing" your beliefs onto others? I have to say that I am not a forceful person, I don't believe it works, I think there is a better approach. I don't force my religion on anyone else, I never said you have to have this or I won't talk to you or be your friend, I have never said you are a horrible person because you are not a Christian, I have non-Christian friends and family and I treat them just as well as the Christian ones.....who are you to judge me when I haven't judged you! I just want to have the freedom to be myself, which my relationship with Christ plays a HUGE role in, everywhere I go no matter where that is. If you don't agree with me that's fine, but don't try to force me to agree with you when you refuse to give me a chance to explain my point of view.

U should not be ashamed. In today's society we have become so tolerant that we are intolerant. We don't want anyone to express themselves for fear it will offend someone else...
I think there is a major double standard in this country when it comes to Christianity. It does say freedom of religion then yet Christians cannot express their beliefs without it being offensive. I used to be Christian myself. I think that from the past actions of others cramming Christianity down ones throat has had reprocussion that now everyone is at the edge of their seat. I mention Jesus and ppl are ready to jump. I find it just as annoying when someone preaches to me about islam or certain forms of Hinduism as I do when someone preaches to me about being Christian. There is a difference to me between preaching and just sharing. Everyone has a right to share. I used to be bitter towards Christians and avoid them at all costs. I do not feel that resentment anymore. There are few who really do try their best to follow the foot steps of Christ. And Jesus himself taught nothing but compassion, love and forgiveness. His teachings are beautiful. I understand how frustrated you feel, a nativity set is not offensive to me at all. And I don't see why it should bother anyone.
i believe that what you were saying is the truth, if you were muslim you could stop your day and pray and no one would dare to say anything about it, but if you bring your bible to work that is against company policy.
remember when America was one nation under GOD!!!
I understand your feelings.....I am a Christian, and have had accusations and ugliness expressed toward me, even here at Thoughts, for wanting to share what God has done for me.
I believe that everyone should have the freedom to choose whatever their religious beliefs are, and I respect that right. However, people seem to forget that this country was founded upon Christianity. One would hope that we would NOT be treated as the outcasts that we are. But, then, we shouldn't be surprised.....afterall, Jesus was not always loved or welcomed, even, in His own country!
If you believe all of the Bible, you know that unfortunately, persecution of Christians will continue to worsen in the last days, regardless of what we do.
I guess what it all comes down to; how do we respond to persecution? Being a Christian means following after Christ and his teachings; being 'Christ' like. It's not always easy, but, remembering that 'God is love' and 'Love is kind', and being filled with His spirit (as spoken of in the Book of Acts) is a good way to gauge if we are being successful in our quest for a Christ centered life. Our lives may be the only 'Bible' that some see. God bless! :)
