| Weekend with a kid, a baby and friends

This weekend went by so quickly. Kids are a lot of work but they are so rewarding that if nothing else I have confirmation that I want to have children at some point in my life (hopefully with the right person).
On Friday, Jen and I drove to Jacksonville around 1 pm. I dropped off Shelby with Chris, and then went to Lolo's house. We got there before they did and were able to get settled in before everyone got home. When Lolo got there with the girls they had less than 45 minutes before they had to leave for their marriage encounter. She gave me a ton of instructions and explained the routines while her and Tony packed for their weekend. Lolo's mom came over while this was all happening and watched the girls. They left without any tears from the girls and with no issues. I felt honored that they would let me watch their girls since they had never left them with anyone.
Around 6:30 pm, Kir's best friend Kat arrived with her mom, my good friend Del. I am always amazed with the relationship these two girls have. At 4 years old, they have been best friends since they were two. They spend a ton of time together and are both really good around each other. Friday night was no exception, I cooked a quick dinner and they ate and then they watched Camp Rock, while Jen, Del and I talked. The girls were singing with the songs and having a blast in their pj's, they were dancing on the ottoman. Around 8, I gave the baby a bath and put the her to bed. Her parents have a routine with her and when followed she is in bed and asleep within minutes. I learned that I love routines with children, it just works well. That first night, the baby woke up at 2 am, but when I made it to her room the crying had stopped. Then she woke up again at 6 and once I gave her the pacifier back, she went back to sleep until 7:30 a.m. It wasn't too bad but I was tired from lack of sleep on Saturday.
Saturday morning, Kir got up around 9 am and we took her to a gym class which she does with Kat. Ry, the baby was an angel, she watched her sister the entire time with no complaints. Then we all went to Moe's to eat. Kir payed attention really well and ate her entire meal. Even the baby ate some Moe's. On the way home, the baby fell asleep and I was able to keep her asleep until she got to her crib. She took a 30 minute nap before we all went swimming for an hour. Kir is a pretty good swimmer and she seemed to had a blast. Ry had no fear of the water and I kept her in an inflatable baby thing for the most part. These girls are both the coppertone kids, they both are tan and have blue eyes. They were very cute.
After swimming, both girls took naps while Jen and I cleaned house a little. We had my friends come over for dinner. They provided the sides and I provided the main course. They left around 9 pm. A few minutes later, I got a call that they had hit something in the road and leaked all of the oil out of their car. I felt horrible!! I went and got them, and they took my car home since I was driving Lolo's SUV to fit both girls. They had to tow their car to the dealership and didn't get home until after midnight.
Saturday night, Rylie slept better and only woke up once around 5 a.m. but went back to bed within seconds. I was pretty lazy yesterday with the girls, Jen and I took them to McDonald's at Kir's request and they went to do groceries with us for dinner. Chris spent the day with us as well which was nice, I had not seen him since our argument and it was nice to spend time with him. He really is a good guy and I was grateful that he took care of Shelby.
I got home around 11pm last night and I am tired today but they are so worth it! I had something happen with the kids that I want to write about but I think this is pretty long for now. |

Sounds exhausting, but a lot of fun! I am glad that you got to combine some of your own fun with babysitting.

Thanks Dol and Meri, The kids were so good that it was not bad at all plus I had Jen there and she was an awesome assistant. She changed a couple of diapers and was just helpful. I could not ask for better friends.

It sounds like you have alot of ultra-cool people in your life. How awesome is it when your friends' families kinda seem like you own? You are one blessed girl, and I wholeheartedly believe you WILL have a gaggle of kids one day with a man smart enough to realize how awesome you are!!! You have an amazingly kind heart.

Blue - Thank you, that was the sweetest comment I have ever received. I hope you are right! I hope you find the same thing.

Hey P, the secret to kids is routine. I think you handled little Ry beautifully.
I get so angry when others don't appreciate routine (schedule). If a child gets out of their routine, it is often very unsettling.
What a great Mum you are going to be :)
... with the right Man :)
