First thanks for the comments.  They are really uplifting for me.  CaringAdvis, you are really good at saying things and I think your perspective is usually pretty accurate. 

Last night I stayed a little later at work because I came in late.  Afterwards 3 of my friends went to dinner together.  We were out until around 8 when my phone rang and it was Brian.  He wanted to take me out to dinner.  He genuinely sounded happy to hear my voice on the phone.  When I got home, as promised, most of his things were gone.  The cat is still there and I can understand that.  He was not able to get his water connected but he had gone to do it.  The bill was twice as much as it was a couple of months ago because even though the water was off he had to pay for sewer $49 per moth, that doesn't make sense so they were going to research it.  I felt good that he had made an effort and respected my wishes.

We went to a local steakhouse that I really like and he paid for everything.  He was also very complimentary and affectionate. Then we went home and he went with me to walk Shelby before he started doing some work.  I fell asleep on the couch and went upstairs after a while.  It was overall a good day.  We'll see what happens over the next few days.
