This weekend was a really good one. I turned 32 this past Saturday and to celebrate Lolo came down to visit with the girls. They are the ones I spent the weekend with a few weeks ago. This was her first trip by herself with both girls (10 months and 4 yo) and although she was tired it went pretty well. Jen also came up from Bradenton. On the way to meet us at a Japanese restaurant, her air conditioning broke and her car started making noise. Luckily her brother was willing to meet her at the restaurant and fix her car over the weekend as well as trade cars with her.
When we went into the restaurant, Jen said we had a reservation. I was surprised that we would have one because this is a pretty casual place but I went along with it. I walked in and still did not notice that at the back of the restaurant was a table with 3 of my close friends complete with party hats, balloons, streamers and noise makers. I started to walk towards a wrong table when Jen said keep walking. I was completely surprised!
Dinner took almost 3 hours, the service was horrible but the food was delicious. They had even brought in a cake from Whole Foods that was yummy. It was yellow cake with chocolate frosting. I loved it. They had presents and cards for me and it was completely unexpected. I have not had a birthday like this since I was in my twenties at least.
On Saturday we all got up and started off with some shopping at the mall that is near my house. It was fun, I bought some really comfy new shoes that were on sale. I also returned a purse that I did not need. In the evening they had a get together at my house. There were about a dozen adults and 4 kids. They both cooked for it and got me my favorite type of cake: Carvel Ice Cream Cake. I loved it. Some of my neighbors came and Brian's closest friends were there.
After everyone left, the 3 of us sat on the front porch in my new rocking chairs (it was a birthday present from Jen & Lolo and their families). We talked until after midnight. Lauren was really honest and asked me to please not go back with Brian for her own sanity as one of my closest friends. I told her that I would not, he did not make me happy and I really want to be happy. I told her I realized I was happier now with the steadiness of my own life then I was with him.
On Sunday, I made home made waffles and we all ate breakfast before everybody went home. It was nice to have my house back. I watched a movie - The Other Boleyn Girl and had Outback for dinner. I am crazy about their green beans for some reason. The movie was really good too, I was completely engaged which is rare for me with movies.
It's Wednesday and today is the last day of my work week. Tomorrow I am going hiking in Vermont with my friend Louise and her friend. I have never been on a hiking trip but I am looking forward to it. I'll be packing and getting ready tonight. I'll be back on Monday and let you know how things went.
I hope everyone is having a great week. |

Hey Happy (belated) birthday, what a great surprise your friends had for you.
I'm so glad it was a special birthday, they all should be, but for some reason we all want to play them down.

Happy "Belated" Birthday, Prelude. Sorry I haven't been by sooner. My computer doesn't like the "new thoughts" format. Pages refuse to load in a timely manner, so my rounds have slowed to a crawl. I'm glad your birthday celebration found you surrounded by friends. I wish you a year of happiness, peace and love. Peace
