Today was such a welcome change!  Emmalyn was just happy.  She started to fuss in the car and ended up taking a nap on the way home.  She slept for another 20 minutes after we got home in her crib.  It was great because I was able to start dinner.  When she got up, she was kind of fussy.  I was not sure what was up so I put her in time out calmly and said she could get up when she was ready to stop crying.  I know she doesn't truly understand but within minutes she walked over and sat in her high chair while I finished making dinner.  She played with uncooked pasta in a container and ate graham crackers.  I cannot believe how different she was today, how happy.  Thank you for all of your words.  They help when I am having a tough time.

Last night, I got the keys to my new home, signed the lease and cleaned house.  I still have to clean the floors but every surface is clean and I plan on doing the floors after the movers have been there.  I am so excited about it!  I have not lived somewhere spacious since my house in Tampa.  Emmalyn is going to have her own room, the guests will have the den and there is a really nice lanai outside overlooking a nature preserve.

Yay!  Brian is here with Emmalyn today.  She was so happy to see him that she did not let go of him.  It's been a month since she saw him but she adores her daddy and while it makes me happy to see that bond, it saddens me that a whole month went by in between visits.  Brian is spending the day with her today and tomorrow.  The move is scheduled for tomorrow.

I am currently writing this from the Apple store where I am waiting to hopefully get a new iphone or for them to fix the screen of my sad broken iPhone 4.  I am very attached to my phone.  It is my first real techy phone (my blackberrys' were for work and therefore don't count).  As Brian said, my world ends if my phone breaks.  

Today has been one of those days where lots goes wrong but nothing major therefore all is well.  First I went to the dealer to get my car serviced under warranty, it had an issue with door handles and with a mirror clicking when you back up.  So the dealer says I am 300 miles past my bumper to bumper warranty and he is going to see what he can do.  I paid for an Acura warranty that extends the factory to 100K miles but apparently that doesn't cover anything.  Hmmm.  That really pissed me off since the warranty was not cheap and I bought it from the same dealer.  Then as I am transferring stuff from my car to the loaner, I drop my phone and the screen cracks in every direction.

Next, I get a message on a rental that I just put a deposit on.  I was excited about moving into a three bedroom that had some nicer features like solid surface counter tops, tile and 3 bedrooms plus a den.  The guy decided to raise the rent by $100 since I gave him my application fee.  I told him I was not interested but was bummed because I liked it.  I had looked at a little bigger one for the same price.  So now, I need to start over and find a place.  

Then we are having trouble with one of our suppliers for our business.  We have not heard from them and they are a big part of our business.  Then the end of the day we decided to have Emmalyn's pictures taken.  Brian came up so that we could take pictures together with her, Em would not have it.  I had not seen her all day and she just wanted me.  No pictures. :(  We tried everything and nothing, she was not a happy girl.

The Apple Store is very slow today, I wrote this entire blog and nothing yet!

Some days I look at my life and I cannot imagine it without Emma.  She brings me the most joy and the most heartache.  Since she just turned 1, I have been thinking a lot about the past year.  When she was just born there were the nights were she would wake up every couple of hours or when she would wake up in the evening and stay up until 1 am or later. As a single mom,  I am so blessed to have friends that were willing to stay with me during those times or want me to stay with them for the first few weeks.  I don't know how I would have made it without them.

Emma was blessed to have two birthday celebrations.  We had a birthday celebration for Emmalyn in Tampa at her grandmother's house and one in Jacksonville at my best friends home.  Having our closest friends around was amazing.  Emma does really well with every body.  She was a trooper and was happy even when she was really tired..  For both of her birthday celebrations she wore different tutu's and headbands with hair bows.  She looked so cute in her little outfits! I love dressing her up.

Emmalyn is everywhere now and constantly on the move.  She tries to get in the kitchen cabinets or in the pantry whenever she can.  She is so mischevious that when she sees that I am coming for her she starts crawling faster.  She tells me no, stop and more depending on the situation.  She has also learned to say I Love You Too which makes me smile every time.  Everyone says that Emma looks just like her dad, which is true.  I always look for parts of me in her and I think it may be her personality.

As far as Brian, he loves her very much.  He does everything he can to provide for her and he comes up pretty routinely.  I do wish, I felt there was more stability there but I do believe he does the most and best that he can.  Overall she is blessed to have him and his family.  I believe that Em will always be loved by her grandmother and his family. 

Overall, I absolutely love being Emma's mom.  Some days are harder than others with her but she is my piece of sunshine.
