This one goes out to everyone who's been frustrated in their quest to fulfil their potential and has to patiently plug away. I'm not there yet but this poem is here just to let you know I feel your pain because its where I'm at and I'm sick of expressing the frustration that goes with the territory.
I double checked my watch and saw it was time to act
No more time to be crying saying I hate the fact
Only got a set screen time then I’ll fade to black
But if I make the silver screen they might just bring me back
The say I’m box office because I speak it deep and plain
But spend the knowledge that I’ve gained like pocket change
Live in their friends pockets hoping mass profit to gain
When the fair weather stops then the clothes being rocked they change
If their friendship was intercourse I’d sooner abstain
Got to countersink the screw of their political game
The set up’s more dangerous than who got played
Who got in the frame, changed their name to make their name
Who took shots in the dark then drove away
Like gambling hit men playing games they roll up on you for broke
Take your chair at the table and eat your roast
Too many times my hard work has been a cloak
Making me invisible except to those in the know
Even if I switch my style they don’t want to know
Because I’m the black friendly spook call me Casper the ghost
