Haven't updated this blog for a little while perhaps because I've had nothing to talk about but as I write I'm vibing off the sounds of Jazz artist Najee and also the incredible talent that is Jamie Foxx. Nevertheless on saturday just gone I had my first performance of the year at an event I had never heard of called Outspoken @ Sublounge i Birmingham. 8.30 till late every 1st saturday of the month be there or be square!. Event plug asideI only found out about it via a random message sent to me on facebook from someone called Kadi. Anyhow I made the trip and was not disappointed. There was a decent mixture of people and from what I gathered there was to be a mixture of singers/ poets/ rappers etc. Anyhow I was most blown away by a couple of the poets that performed - there was one poet called "Riddle woman" and she had some of that raw hard hitting lauryn hill style verses which were pure fire.!!! It seemed though I didn't really know everyone at the start by the end of the night every one would know who I am. I couldn't havfe predicted it but hey shout outs to HLI - Tom on acoustic guitar alongside Wasif, bringing some alternate hip hop to us. Loved that stuff man. Anyway I performed a poem you may or may not have read called "Dear Caramel" which I had only unleased to friends but never in performance and without hyping it up I have to say I'm happy with the reaction it got. Before I was called in the open mic segment I was in that zone where though I knew the piece I was frantically trying to remember it but the moment I got on the stage I was in the zone. Being called "Mr Caramel" and the appreciation from the crowd left me buzzing for a good 24 hours after the event. Hopefully I will have a chance to perform again at the event in future. Shout outs to Kadi and Soul. Respect
