 In Her Element
Love’s red glutton, pushed the button and watched him slip away like smoke into the night
Would she see the light, or avoid the blues, and get with ex, new shoes and sex
\Would she fall in love of or just vibe with the reflex

Relationships were like pornographic antidotes to true passion
Treated relations like a fashion show regular news was in fashion so
She gave head to get ahead in the race to erase him from her head
But every new man she took to bed was like a shotgun to the head
Was worth it… just to put him to bed?

She moaned publicly in the ecstasy of get with me ego centricity
In her single time she had her double ex’s to see
No new notches vehemently and evidently,
Facebook statuses would be the adverts generally
Might as well be a billboard but players play presently

Love’s red glutton, pushed the button and watched him slip away like smoke into the night
Could she see the light and avoid the blues, and get with ex, new shoes and sex
Would she fall in love of or just vibe with the reflex?

See in the time of every break up you need to make up with you
Yet at every chance she’d lace up those boobs like track shoes she had something to prove
She was running from the music that made her groove
To some dude she barely knew but made her feel rare and new
It was the feeling of real love but was it really true?

For if not now then at her blue moon,
Or when she’d tied the knot wishing she’d not come off the prowl so soon
Howling at clock demanding time in lieu, time to be blue
Time to clear mind of her true love

See her real love was a quiet gun
He made her burn like a quiet sun
She could hide behind papered cracks but she couldn’t run
Business wasn’t done, wasn’t closed
He drifted in and out of her psyche like Ebenezer scrooge’s ghosts

She wanted to cut a figure so forlorn her silhouette was torn
Love’s politics hit her like unwanted health reforms
She was not for being a transformer but this would transform her
If she was going to live she needed time to mourn her

Love’s red glutton, pushed the button and watched him slip away like smoke into the night
Could she have seen the light, or avoided the blues, and not got with the ex, new shoes and sex
Instead of falling in love just vibing with the reflex
