You'd look good in green, moron
Yesterday I was helping one of my co workers with pool liners. He knows very little about above ground pools. His expertise is inground. Since I like to be the helpfull one, okay, what I really mean to say is the "one" that has more knowledge...was right up my alley. I am not opposed to asking for help. Though I do like to find out for myself. Anyhoo it was nice being the "new kid" and doing some teaching instead of learning. I gave him the info on the liners as far as pool wall hieght and all that bologna. I also told him an above ground pool is nothing short of a plastic garbage bag lining a garbage can. "Hefty bag" pools, disposable pools.

Which leads me to customer service. The place I work for builds inground pools. They just finished a beauty to the tune of 335,000.00. Not a bad piece of change. I was shown the plans yesterday, gorgeous pool and the house and property to die for. I digress...

So I call the vendor we buy our above ground pool liners from. The chart they had given us didn't give us a hieght chart, just round and oval sizes. I call their customer service department. Give the gal my shpeel, and start asking questions. About guage(thickness) height and so on. I don't know if she was a new hire or didn't give a shit. Here lies my complaint. I asked simple questions, the simple questions she nailed. The next questions were neither 'technical" or "hard", I'm pretty sure an "untrained" monkey would of been more helpfull. Anyway I ask her about these two particular liners "what guage are these liners marked "heavy guage" blue and "heavy guage" tile print". The response I get is "A heavier guage".....ok dipshit, take another sip of coffee and a handfull of no doze....."You didn't answer my question" "Again, what guage are YOUR HEAVY GUAGE LINERS ?"(easy fucking question, right?)....This is what "Miss Intelligence" answers back. Prepare yourselves for this masterpiece...."A heavier guage".....Now Im past annoyed, now I am having visions of running her over with a forklift.....

I am generally a nice person and I try to treat people with respect. Though sometimes I draw the line and break my own rules. I had to break my rules yesterday.....

Me: You have no idea what I'm asking you, do you?
idiot: Yes, you asked what the guages were.
Me: Exactly, I asked you what the guages were, you said heavier. Your answer's told me you have no clue. Let me try again, What thicknesses do you carry? 12 mil,20mil,22mil,24 do you understand? (I'm not being sarcastic at this point)
idiot: oh
Me: oh?
idiot: um...oh...yeah
Me: yeah what?
idiot: um, sure thats what they are.
Me: You have no clue, piece of advice sister. If you don't know the answer just say so. No one expects you to know everything. I'm sure you have a supervisor for help or you could transfer me to someone that "might" BE ABLE TO HELP ME. Thanks for your expertise in "I don't give a shit". This after all is YOUR  job and not mine. I only hope one day I CAN REPAY YOU THE FAVOR. Have a nice day.....And I hung up.

Not all jobs are terrific or a persons "dream" job. Sometimes we all have to do jobs we dont like. Do yourself a favor and make the best of it until you can change positions. I for one am so tired of the "I don't give a shit" attitude. When we apply for a job is because of want and lets face it, need. We all have to survive and that takes money. When we sign those papers we "agreed" to do the job at hand. Not just do the job "if we feel like it".

Maybe I'm the moron, I bend over backwards to be of help. If I don't know something I will either find out or get someone that does know. I am being paid to be of service to help you trouble shoot your problems and get you the products you need. I'm not being paid to say I don't know and that I don't give a shit about your problem.  For myself its in treating people in the way I expect to be treated, with respect. I believe the meaning of "respect" has been taken out with the trash. I find it less and less.

I will continue to face each day with a smile and go the extra mile for a stranger. I like the phrase "pay it forward". I will keep paying it forward till the day I die. I hope Miss Intelligence gets her dose of reality quick and learns the meaning of paying it forward. Better to be good at what you do than mediocre. Even the worst of jobs leaves you with valuable and irreplaceable knowledge.  Put that in your pipe and smoke it Miss Intelligence customer service person.

On a side note, I'm thinking of installing a paint gun on the hood of my bug. I want one with a hair trigger. Since I don't give other drivers the finger I thought if I could shoot their cars with paint balls it would be my way of giving the finger. Route 309 commuters I salute you, may the bad commuters get a chronic case of the trots, flat tires and a rainbow of colors on your "death machines"..... This is for Miss red Honda. Miss red Honda your car sucks and so do you, the left lane is the PASSING LANE not for cruising. You Miss Honda will be my first target. Lime green should look good against the red, you moron. Miss red Honda I will be paying it forward.

I applaud your work ethic Pita and agree wholeheartedly - If you hate your job or find it unspiring, either find a new one or FAKE IT. At least TRY to do a good job. I mean, it is what pays the rent (mortage), isn't it? I would have lost it with that moron!

Thank you Meredith. I have no idea what all this gals job entailed. She does need to get a clue and learn what customer service means.

Isnt it amazing how many morons are out there?

I especially like that ones that cant make change. Specially when it comes out in my favor, but then being the kind of person I am, I always give it back, to their supervisor while telling them, they should really teach these people to count. Sad thing is....the register tells them how much to give.

And to think, someday these people will take over.

That person was a moron. I would have lost it on them. You seem to have a great work ethic, I agree with it. Sometimes I feel like I deal with idiots all the time.

Sounds like you had a bad day. I was kind of grumpy today too.. workin too much and no time off. I was doing security and we had a bunch of parties going on at the university campus (grads, weddings, etc.) and I found some ppl drinking outside which is illegal so I told them to dump it.. he gave me some lip so I lost my temper and told him "Shut up, dump your beer and get moving". Rather unprofessional.

Hi Pita......where the hell have you been???? Are all the morons out there sucking your will to blog????
I can so relate to working with people that just don't care. It's hard for me to understand, too. I try to leave people like that with cryptically sarcastic comments that make them wonder if they are being insulted......pretty sure they are, but not quite convinced!!

I'm telling you Toad the older I get the crankier I get. It's a good thing I don't carry a gun, I'd use it.

Hey Blue, I have been working my tail off. It's only for a few more weeks then it will slow down.

I think I'm going to start carrying around a big stick and be like Bufford T. Pusser. I think I'll call my stick "skull cracker".
